Pressure gauge

Post by allsteamedup » Thu Jun 13, 2024 5:53 pm

Hi All,

Newbie here, I have an old Roundhouse Russell and although she has steamed up to pressure and the valve has lifted the pressure gauge is not showing any pressure.
Thinking it was a fault with the pressure gauge I bought a new one from Roundhouse and fitted it. No leaks evident.
Re-steamed up to pressure and still no pressure showing in the gauge.

Everything else is ok, she runs beautifully on the track, just nothing showing on the pressure gauge.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated

Cheers
Paul

So it would appear to be a blocked siphon tube. Remove the gauge, empty the boiler and try some vinegar in the tube to dissolve the lime deposits. Give the boiler a thorough rinse out afterwards.
Good Luck.
Grant.

Hi Grant,

many thanks for your help.
vinegar worked a treat.
Russell is chuffing around the track and seems a little better on the throttle too.

Cheers
Paul
