In the good old days I enjoyed making videos of the Sandstone & Termite with a storyline. These days my ‘fire has gone out’ as I have been forced to reduce the extent of the line. I seldom run trains and even less often do I make videos.
So I though I would re-post some of my favourites for those of you who joined GRF recently and those whose memory is not the best,

So I’ll put up a new link every week or so.

Here is my first one. It’s an Introduction to my railway at it’s full extent, from 8 years ago. No story, just an overall look at the line and how it fits in my backyard. 13 minutes long.

You say the fire has gone out - I think it must have been more a raging inferno when you were building and running the S&T. I look forward to revisiting the line as you post over the coming months.

Just amazing Greg, I have seen views of your line but not fully understood the size, complexity and amount of structures etc. which all combine so well into the landscape. It must have felt like building the pyramids!
I can appreciate how much effort is must have been just to keep on top of maintenance, but you have had your fun and enjoyed every minute, I'm sure.

Great to see the now closed section in action. I can remember you building that 4-4-0 green loco standing at Melaleuca. It doesn't seem that long ago....

Thanks Rik for repairing the link.
I had given up trying to post it and I don't remember ever pressing "Submit" so was very surprised to see it up here on the Forum.

A lot of hard work reflected in the quality of the layout there Greg. Lots of permutations to keep interest for yourself and guests. The maintenance required must have been extensive, so I suppose it's no wonder that you have less 'fire' than you used to, but I don't think your fire has gone out. Enjoy a more leisurely pursuit of our pastime.

Here's my second choice

A fictitious story of how all my fellow garden railroaders got together to move a lot of coal.
It even includes a segment from Rik’s UK line – the magic of video! 9 minutes (4 yrs ago)
(my favourite piece of video I ever shot starts at 4:50)

I'd forgotten this video. Great to see it again. You're right, that shot of loco #14 (?) climbing the gradient towards the camera is probably my favourite view too.

Great video, Greg. I'd forgotten about this one. A like the mix of onboard video and lineside shots. Good to see you and Pauline waiting on the platform, and also the mention of the PLR at Sandstone (something else I'd forgotten about).

Thanks for sharing these again Greg. It was such a shame that you had to reduce the layout, although I totally understand why, but at least you have these memories to relive it and allow us to share.

Thanks Phil. Even the remainder of the garden line doesn't get much use - but the Sydney winter has been wet and cold. Maybe in Spring I will get interested again.

After a long absence, here is another of my old videos.
Purports to be the making of a promotional video for the SaTR, shot from a new fangled helicopter in 1955. Just to show-off aerial shots from a drone!

Wow! I don't remember seeing that video. Great shots from quite different angles.

Some unusual perspectives on the line; I am always impressed seeing the rock cuttings and the trestles. I was curious how you got the drone quiet enough to hear the trains, so I appreciated the production note at the end about the dubbed sound. It must have taken some extra effort to record the sounds and edit them in, but the result was very effective!
