Modern Darjeeling, DHR, coach information
I have just bought 3 of Peter Yatton's rather fine modern DHR coach kits. Little problem - It does not matter what search parameters I use I cannot find any useful pictorial information to nail down suitable exterior naming and numbering. Loads on pictures of all the loco's out there but collectively all the cameras that have taken pictures of modern DHR trains have overshot their depth of field by the time they reach the attendant coaches, if you see what I mean.
So here are the coaches - 1 x Jodhpur 2nd class, 1 x Dining car, 1 x Observation. Just to get a fix on the era -
A suggestion was made that I find a copy of Iron Sherpa vol 2. I think we can see the problem here. I did buy David Charlesworth;s Darjeeling Railways in Pictures to go with my copy of The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. But as mentioned above the focus is mainly on the locos, not stock. Very frustrating. I will be using a mix of IP's Dickie's Decals modern DHR items and BECC vinyl lettering and lining. Hoping there is a kind soul out there with the necessary information. Max

I suspect that the boat sailed long ago, but I have only just seen this. I have Halfway to Heaven and both Iron Sherpa volumes, if that is any help.

Probably way too late, but her are a few miscellaneous photos I took on my trip to Darj. In 2018. Sorry I missed this post when you originally asked the question but hopefully they might be of use to someone at some point in the future. I wish I had thought at the time to take a few pictures showing the liveries.

Hi Max
A good friend of mine and a member of our Austrian forum built and labeled several Yatton models years ago, he offered them for sale in 2017 and posted photos of them in our forum.

It is a passenger car with a police compartment: GKB 2nd/Guard, and a dining car: Dining Car "Tensing Norgay". For both cars I have already assembled and painted the frames and the four bogies including the wheels. I also bought additional parts for this Darjeeling wagon: Various cast parts for the end faces and the buffer beams. Furthermore, I had the original lettering made in the form of wet decals based on prototype photos (also in England). For the dining car, I had the lettering "Tensing Norgay" etched on the side. All parts, including accessories, are available. The finished carriages go beautifully with the blue Live Steam - RH Darjeeling class B loco. I also have many detail photos for positioning of the lettering etc. . .
Here is an excerpt from the text on the sale of the wagons, he should have image sources for the wagons. I copied this text from our forum and paste it here. Only registered members have access to the sales section in our forum.

Here's another picture.
He had the decals made in England, I can ask him where to get the decals if you're interested?

No, you are not too late I have yet to start them. Pictures look very interesting and useful, thank you. At present I am planning to use a mixture of BECC white self adhesive vinyl lettering and stripes with some Dickies Decals (IP) waterslide emblems. If somebody knows who made the sets in the pictures that would be very helpful. Max
