Hi All.
I have on order the above loco and was wondering how anyone else has fitted batteries (how many?) and an rc module into the engine compartment. I am especially interested in the battery situation as there is obviously not a lot of room under the bonnet.

Not sure how much room it has, but I would highly recommend Li-ion batteries as you get a lot of voltage and Mah for your space. I got 12v out of three tiny little batteries inside a tiny little bonnet. They tend to be 4.2v each, definitely worth a look. Just make sure you get an appropriate charger from eBay which are generally less then a fiver.

I concur with Steve's suggestion. You can get 14500 li-ions which are the same size as AAs. If you can fit three AAs under the bonnet then you can fit three 14500s.

Look on the ecolux website. Norb lists all sorts of sizes of li ion batteries - the numbers refer to the diameter (14mm) X length (500mm), so if AAs aren't the best fit then you can choose something which is. For 79p Norb will add solder tags. https://www.ecoluxshopdirect.co.uk/

I'd advise getting a 3S battery protection board, as li ions need to be handled with respect. You can get them on eBay for a few quid. There's a bit more on protection boards and li ions on my blog

Regarding RC, I'd suggest the Deltang Rx66 as their receiver/controllers are very compact and designed specifically for trains.
