No Russell for Hunslet 125??

Post by JMORG » Wed Jun 13, 2018 9:48 pm

Looking at a comment on the WHHR, looks like Russel will not be attending the FR Hunslet gala. Anyone have an idea what's happened? I thought relations were warming since the crash in 2009?

I don't know, but removal of the vacuum brake equipment during its last overhaul would certainly be an issue.

Don't know if you ever frequent the WHR isengard site Tony; but if this is true it doesn't look good...

Seems odd that Russell lost it's vacuum breaking equipment; I recall the equipment was stored in one coal bunker. If the idea was to run to Beddgelert then wouldn't one bunker be sufficient for the run? I recall Russell did run from Caernarfon to Waunfawr during the early 2000's and it seemed to cope fine then.
