Can any member help me please with two little problems.

1st. Do you know where I can buy another one of these 4 cell battery packs from. I have looked on the Strikalite website, but they don’t seem to do a 4 pack.

2nd. Can you help in acquiring one of these Binnie Parts. I have lost one of them for a GVT wagon and for the life of me I can’t find it anywhere. Until I can get one I won’t be able to finish it off….
They are the ones of the two that are not attached to the under frame part.

The reason for the battery pack is, when I came to check the battery on my locos for a steam up with a friend (Ted Avery) from Cleveleys, I found the only ones not charged up ready were my live steam “Billy”. Luckily enough I checked them the night before and put them on charge. But I would like to have a spare pack in case it happens again.

I had left the Rx switch on from my last run of her…..LESSON LEARNT…..

These guys will make a battery up if they don't stock what you want and can have a range of connectors to suit:

Thanks Tom.

Would this pack be the one I want and I think it would need the Tamiya connector. It’s the white one with the little tab the connects with the male, or it maybe the other way round.

Rod, look up 'Component Shop' on-line. I buy all my batteries there and they are available in a choice of connector types.

The battery pack in your photo does not show what type of connector you are currently using.

Hi Rod
If you search eBay for '4.8v battery pack' you should find a few to meet your needs. This looks good value as it uses LSD (Low Self Discharge) cells which don't go flat when stored like normal NiMh cells.

Hi Rik

That looks great, but I can’t tell if it has the Tamyiya plug. If it doesn’t will this be the correct adapter for it.

Now all I need is the plastic axle box. Is there a member that can make one please.

Rod - perhaps try get hold of the manufacturer - I'm sure most will help in a situation like this - was it a Binnie kit? If no-one on here has his contact details (not on the cardboard part of the packaging??? I haven't got any of this kits to hand to look at - pop on FaceBook on the 16mm page - sure someone on there will have some details for him

The part is the one’s that are separated already i.e. The two on their own.

I have been on FB but no joy and I don’t know how to get an email or go on to the Binnie Engineering site. I have put a search in but I only get companies that do Binnie Kits.

Rod,

I have some axleboxes somewhere that, from memory, look similar to the Binnie ones. I haven't seen them for a while, but I'll have a search for them and see if they're suitable. I have a some Binnie skips I can use for comparison. I think the ones I have are made from acrylic or reinforced nylon.

If they're not identical it might be possible to modify them. Workshops often swapped things like axleboxes, wheels and buffers at overhauls or repairs so if not an exact match then there's an explanation for any differences!

Binnie Engineering don't have a website but you can find their details on the Summerlands Chuffer website.

Have recently ordered from him using the email address so it is valid.

Rod,

These are the axleboxes. You're welcome to some if you think they're suitable.

Apologies for the poor camera phone pictures.

They aren't an exact match for the binnie ones.

If you pm me your address I'll get some in the post, or I'll be at the West Lancs on 20th with the Hundred End Layout so I can take them there.
