This is the project that may supplant the railcar.
I found the bits in SLR models online scrap yard and they are test prints of something that the proprietor made for himself. They cost a grand total of 3 new pence.
I am going to have a go at building a chassis using a pair of Atlas 6w chassis as bogies. The result should be a very powerful and very heavy locomotive. The prints are not too rough and should clean up with a little work.

As you can see the prints are nearly 14'' long. The smaller of the two bonnets may have to be extended by another inch or so to fit the mechanism in. Plus any foot plate at the ends. I think it might end up being quite a beast.
