Hi,

Does anyone have material they can cut (metal, brass, etc) to the following dimensions:

Length = 100mm
Width = 58mm
Depth = 10mm (Maximum)

I need it to weigh at least 500g but can go up to 1kg

Will pay for material and postage.

Thanks!

Tom

That is a heavy duty lump of metal.
Try a local welder/fabricator.

If you look into the densities of steel, brass and lead you will find steel too light for that volume. Brass and Lead will deliver, Why not try casting your own in lead?.

Assuming that you are after this for a weight?

I use lead flashing (as used on roofing), it's really easy to work. I cut it with a Stanley knife and you can score & fold it too!
I usually cut it to size, score & fold, then glue the folds together and clamp in a vice overnight.

Simples...

Just to add my own little thought again.

If it needs to be reasonably solid, you could cast the shape in resin with lead shot added to the mix. I have seen kits for the smaller scales use this method to give added weight.

Just to be really nosy...

What do you need it for?

Thanks for the suggestions.

I need it to weigh down my inerita wagon as it is a small wagon and the only space left is at the top where I want to place a coal load over the plate.

I always use lead sheet as used in flashing on chimneys etc.... off-cuts of new sheet lead might be available from a friendly local builder or plumber, if not I will gladly supply you with some. PM me if that suits.

Tom I can get you some lead flashing offcut, wont be untill the new year I'm afraid, doubt posting it at this time of year would be a good idea, (I work for a roofing company) I got a few small pieces cut for me to stop an MM1 going wandering  :roll:
