Glad you managed to get through it all Laurence, it certainly is a big thread. LOL.
Meant to embed this latest video link the other day. It's a long video, have used aging effects & a few other video effects on this one.

Glad you all liked the video. The beast of the CVLR managed to stay out of most of the shots. But no one will believe the beast exists..
Anyway back to more mundane matters. Due to deciding to build up the cess edges with 16mm scale ballast the CVLR has had a bit of a session on refitting & pressing old stock back into service.
So after fettling the snowplough & now this lot it's really turning into Departmental December..
Firstly the old mamod wagons were retrieved from Chyknell siding where they had been dumped since about march. Most of the axles were seized solid but the roundjack didnt worry about that. They soon started rotating again but I may have some flat spots..
They are rusting away quite well now but should give another few years service in there roll as ballast wagons.

Next to get finished off where the old hoppers. These were started in 1999 for my 0-16.5 african NG layout as bogie hoppers. Built in Stourbridge Jcn signalbox on nights with no reference for scale they ended up a tad too big.
So sat around for a decade & a bit. Then got converted to 16mm last year. Now I have just got around to finishing them. The last job was to fit a ballast shoot to the cess sides. Before there was just a hole in the floor. Now they have the shoots & rudimentry doors that do actually move to allow ballast to drop. Need to get some brass sheet though as the plasticard is not ideal for the doors.

Also built yesterday was another sheep wagon to match the existing build from last year. A IP chassis with VT Coffee stirrer affair again. The new build is the dark grey one in the pics.

So with that lot basically complete it has been time to test behind the Roundjack. Currently into an hour of running with only a few squeaks & squeals from the new builds..

Been so busy with work & family over Xmas & New year. But the IP freelance coach is coming on well (well for me that is). It is an excellent kit & I will be getting more in time.

It got it's first run in trials today & coped well with an hour & half round & round behind the RoundJack.. Still needs more paint, details, roof, insides fitting out etc.

Actually was the first train to run in 2012, to busy running them 1 to1 scale things..
Love coming back to the railway & finding nature embracing the line..

Well kinda Matt..Sir haydn:64737 wrote:Any more progress?
We have the builders in at the moment for a conservatory, whilst this will make shunting at Porthcadno a bit of a pain in places it will add to the railway in some ways as double doors will lead out to trackside.

Plus with a load of freshly dug out soil, a load of concrete blocks & slabs now going spare it meant today one of the last two pieces to get infilled got sorted out.

These pics were taken at midday & a lot more has happened. The tunnel will actually form a right of way across the line into the garden direct from the conservatory. The cutting leading to it will be lined in slate & then when the weather is better more topsoil & plants will be added.
In other news the IP coach is almost finished. Just need to do windows & roof now..

Seems to fit quite well with the ex NWNGR coaches & this will be the rake it will end up with.

Blimey - I thought I was the only muppet digging out permafrost
Glad to see another hardy soul tackling some groundworks
Thanks for that last photo Shane - it does look well alongside the ex-NWNGR stock, so that's another one on my list
Erm, you did invite Matt & me over for a "run" this week didn't you? (There's no digging involved?????

Whilst I must say I have enjoyed building my IP freelance 4 comp coach I have to say fitting the roof has been an utter !@£$!!

Still ain't on right..
Right well as busy here some more piccys, yes I do love piccys don't I!

New steps which will lead from conservatory over the railway.

Lot of blending in work to do here (when it's warmer as soil is frozen solid). But you get the idea of what it could look like..
Then as the builders are laying bricks I have to keep out of the way so ran a train. Market day special today & it was a busy one so the CVLR dug out all there passenger stock including the new coach. Good job as it was full & standing from Porthcadno to Chyknell. The dogbox scooped up the stragglers..

It later worked back ECS to form the second special of the morning.

Fav pic of the morning is this one though, just like it..

Hope you enjoy..

The first pic really did make me laugh
sort of thing I'd end up doing! and the railway really has come on now with the greenery now taking hold (or should I say was taking hold before the frost?
) Must contact the Snowdonia National Park and ask for planning permission to build a 16mm railway in the field in Wales someday.....
(I'm not joking either!)

Excellent pictures. Especially liked the method of getting the roof to take shape. I did something similar with an IP atlantic buffet coach.
Still couldn't get the roof to hold a curve. Thought 'I know, i'll put the roof in a warm oven for a minute or two.
............Doh!
It now has a wooden roof with a fabric cover. Never did like plastic anyway!

Ah, the technique with the plastic roof is to do plenty of pre bending (tricky I know sometimes with a bogie coach roof) then stick down with superglue, ideally a slower setting gap filling type one
And a long train of carriages, I love that sort of thing
Get 3 or 4 more and you'll be up to NWAG standards

More updates today.
Decided to relay the branchline from Chyknell South to Fox road (the shed).

It's been out of use for about a year & nature had really taken over.

First job was install the point.
Then the undergrowth was tackled..

Then track was laid on blocks above the old rail level & ballest infilled.

First train arrived to pack down the first 3 lengths.

& propelled up the new alignment.

Now need to continue on towards the big shed..
