Lovely simple charm! I quite like old photographs, I think there is something more, real to them than digital.

In fact, the way the scans have turned out, I'm thinking of dusting off my old Pentax and using it again

Keith, talking of the way things have come on, wait until you see the following photo's I've dug out - it's been a real nostalgia trip finding these!

How it REALLY all began - a circle of Mamod track...
(Very poor quality, low light pic, but included just for the historic value - this really was "my first ever steam-up"!)

The previous photo's I posted followed on from the circle of track, before a house move to Loscoe.
Here's the start of the Loscoe Light Railway..... (spot the loco in the pond?)

I then entered my "Hiatus", because I moved to a house with no garden. So, there was a considerable time lapse before the start of the current railway........

Here's the "blank canvas"!!

And here's a photo taken today from the same location!

I hope no-one minds an old fart reminiscing

Funnily enough, I had some lined up ready to "collect" just before moving house. The stuff in the pics is from my neighbours greenhouse base

A set of 45 mm wheels with the correct spacers - I'd be careful they do not go walk-about!

Cheers Dan, really glad I found the photo's - I shan't lose 'em again!

When I left Loscoe I moved to a house with no back garden, also with one thing and another (regular 9 to 5 job plus being in 2 bands) going on at the time had very little "hoby time" so I ended up GIVING AWAY the entire set-up.
Fast forward a few years and a house move, and I fancied rails in the garden again. I bought an LGB Starter Set just to "scratch the itch" and it went from there

I KNOW "elephant proof track" looks way out-of-scale, but I have to admit that for a ground level line I just love how tough it is compared to flimsy old smirtytwo

Oh and Chris - I bet you won't believe me when I tell you that I still haven't heard from Dream Steam! :roll:

I've taken to keeping 'em safe in the shed. The plastic is a bit prone to going brittle in too much sunlight and then the frost and high winds hit......... (repaired the first set 4 times

)

Given their noted lack of interaction with the Public at Peterborough (not just by me) it does not surprise me. It is not the same company (and level of customer service) that was formed by Alan Dunster.

I never advise anyone to use Dream Steam these days, always RWM. I ordered a pressure gauge off them a while back, and heard nothing for nearly 2 months until I emailed them. I received a full refund and was told that I would be informed when the pressure gauges would be back in stock. Nothing heard back since!

Interesting to see that your Andel Guards Van has an external brake handle.

It is not mentioned in the instructions (although one is included with the standard brake gear bag), and I bought a Cambrian Models Guard's Brake Standard at Peterborough to enhance the interior of my kit.

Nice photography! Good looking line with typical narrow gauge set pieces. I love the narrow street scene.
Please tell me what ballast you use and where I can get a lorry load. I do want to use ballast to complete the look but most gravel, even from garden centres, seems to be too big.
