At the last running day I came to the conclusion that Minnie is too quiet so I'm resolved to sorting that by ordering a chuffer and while I'm burning money I've ordered a Swift Sixteen corrugated van, hopefully they'll arrive by Saturday. The replacement drain screw arrived last week, hopefully I won't disgrace myself by losing it or flooding the burner next time!

The chuff pipe has being fitted to Minnie, all went well somehow! Some more painting has being done, unfortunately the weather has made sure that I won't be able to paint the handrail knobs before Sunday.

Seeing as rain showers are predicted for Sunday I'd better devise some sort of shelter to avoid flooding the burner again!

A running day on the 28th was pretty quiet, no doubt thanks to the weather and a moron piloted maroon Millie terrorising the garden railway! The IP Eng. MOD has been repainted into the same light grey as the G Van. I reckon IMR lining would look quite good on a Millie, wasn't No.4 Loch in maroon for quite a while?

I'm hoping to run Minnie at Harrogate next weekend, there are a few jobs to do between then though. The top up valve needs cleaning, the handrails could do with painting and a Swift Sixteen corrugated van needs finishing.

As I've mentioned on another thread I've been keeping myself busy with the construction of a Brandbright 3 comp panelled coach. While most of the exterior is nearly finished I've only just started on the interior. The livery is based very loosely on the livery used by the IMR in the 1990s. Once this one is done there is a Directors Saloon and brake coach to see to.
It still needs some painting but you get the impression of what it'll look like hopefully.

The compartment partitions & inner walls are only loosely fitted for the photo. The solebar needs another coat once the side is on.

As, according to my calendar, the next running is a diesel & electric day so I've revived Offler. All that needs doing now is fixing 2 wheels from slipping on their axles. And following company rules, she's being fitted with vacuum pipes, but in a cost cutting measure brake gear has yet to be fitted to any stock!
In other news, the 2 IPE coaches have been stripped for spares, so I now have a handy surplus of wheels, bearings and couplings.

I've started work on the Brandbright Director's Saloon, all that's currently stopping me is the need to get some wood stains. I'm starting to think that it is possible to have it finished for Sunday. I've washed Minnie's boiler out and fitted her nameplates. Hopefully an order I've placed with Locoworks for a mechanical lubricator, fire irons & a set of axlebox lubricators will arrive by Saturday.

Hmmm that No.4 lamp needs repainting.

It might have been that I've cleaned the boiler, it might be that she was burning propane/butane mix or it might be that it was a diesel & electric day but Minnie was running very well today, and I think that I'm getting the hang of having enough steam to keep her going without the safety valve lifting. Offler was running well until he had to propel his stock and he came to a noisy grinding halt, Offler has shredded his gears! To shred brass gears is some achievement, do I win an award!?

To be fair I have worked Offler hard and hauling the Swift Sixteen box van was seemingly the last straw. Never mind, I'll contact AnDel models tomorrow too find out how to strip the chassis down or whether I can buy a new chassis altogether. And I still (after 3 months) need to contact Roundhouse about Minnie's water filler!

Not many photos worth seeing, my camera is rubbish and I was too busy shredding gears and running Minnie!

The Director's Saloon is progressing relatively well, the frames are finished, the floor stained/painted, table, chairs, toilet, hotplate & sink are made and I've bought a Modeltown figure for it.

Offler's chassis has been sent back to AnDel for attention, hopefully this is the last time I'll have to test AnDel's customer service.

River Ankh is alive again and now has polished tyres and her support van's roof has been overhauled, a repaint for August 5th is on the cards.
Minnie's got a new ball in her water filler, now it seems that the bottle lacks the oomph needed to beat the spring.
I've broken a few modelling rules, quit while you're ahead being one, don't model when you're tired is another and finally, if something goes wrong stop.

It's being a case of 1 step forward & 2 back with the director's saloon today, with poor working procedures like these its a good thing that there is no RHBR for the dreaded Mr. Isle to inspect!

No pictures whatsoever I’m afraid, I didn’t take my camera and my phone now only (barely) works as a phone! Minnie was running well most of the day, save for a half hour exile in the clubhouse during an very impressive thunderstorm. The sound she made when she lost her feet as she started to propel the freight train along with 6 rescued opens loaded with gravel & water on a tight curve has convinced me that a chuff pipe is worth every penny!

River Ankh was also out and did well, occasionally venturing onto the main line.
The director’s saloon still isn’t finished, it’s getting there now though, a clear day or two of modelling would have it done but finding a day or two is the trick.

I've fitted Locoworks fire-irons, mechanical lubricator and I need to order some 10BA nuts & bolts to fit the axlebox lubricator set. It does seem odd that bolts are supplied for the fire-irons and not for the lubricator set, at least I'll have some spares though! Having never seen them in the flesh before I'm very impressed with the quality of the parts, the fire-irons are particularly impressive.

I should have given her a quick clean before this photo, whoops.

Coming to a line near you (As long as it's easily and cheaply reached by public transport from York and is 32mm of course!)
