Who made the open wagons behind your loco van in the first picture? They look incredible.

Wow, you've done a great job weathering them. I like the accucraft wagons but had no idea they were that good. It looks like you've shrunk some real ones.

It also looks like you've been playing with your old TE1A, I can see it poking into the bottom of your pictures. :D

Stunning development at Llangunllo bank there Shane, it's looking excellent! Great job with the thermalite blocks and the fencing is the biz :D

As regards the "water feature" under the bridge, why not use Peter Jones' idea and grab a sheet of (not too flimsy) perspex, paint the underside and bed that in as the pond/lake?
It's what I did for "Brinsley Wharfe" - which I'm converting to a "lake" this spring - and it looks effective, is very low maintenance compared to a real water feature and is of course pet and child friendly!
Another great advantage is that you can pose the "waterline" type models of wildlife and boats etc.

Thats a bloody great tip Greg, I may well do that that. As Scarlett has now reached the "I must touch & fiddle with everything stage" I think it might be a lot safer than actual water. Where do you get Perspex from these days? & how easy is it to cut? I remember messing about with it at school & also remember it used to shatter quite easy? It's just that fitting it under the bridge area would entail a bit of trimming.

Actually thats my SR1 in the pics, It's one I bought of the mamod forum as a bit of a nail to convert to something else. Have not got around to that yet. The TE1A only comes out everynow & then as it was the wifes late fathers mamod.

As far as the accucraft wagons, superb items. I do prefer the W&L ones over the L&B normally. Seems more details on the W&L ones & they are slightly bigger (as per scale) so look good behind Roundhouse & accucraft loco's in my mind. Theres was a cracking article in the last SMT about superdetailing the W&L open wagons. More than I would be willing to do but must admit they looked superb..

The easiest recommendation for perspex is B&Q, as for cutting - I don't know of an "easy" way (hopefully someone will enlighten us??), what I do is continually score rather than cut.
Make your "banks" out of concrete with just a smidge of compost (so it's stronger than normal Rowlands Mix) and they'll cover any imperfections anyway.
(I'm planning on sticking some bass broom tufts in my next bank to represent "bullrushes" :D )

If you have a bandsaw handy, clamp the perspex between two blocks of wood the same size as the perspex with double sided tape then slowly feed it into the saw blade. That's how I did it at school.

Sorry Zach, missed your question. The bridge is just built/bodged out of hardwood stakes as found in my local garden centre. Pretty cheap material & easy to cut with a wood saw. Just simply cut to shape & then tacked & screwed together.
I won't say it will do forever but it works for now. When the line is finished & more cashflow is available then I will probably replace with something a bit finer looking.

The first 2 of approx 12 terrace house started for Chyknells Station road tonight. Relief buildings & not intended to be that detailed. Still need to sort out roofs & windows. No need for doors as they will all be backing onto the railway cutting.

Thermolite blocks of course....

Neat! :D

Are you going to carve the roofs, stick on diy tiles - or - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-24-Scale-5-x-BU ... 5639f770f0??

Nice find Greg, may well cover with stuff like that. Will see when I have finished the batch off.
It's all part of the plan to upgrade Chyknell station. It has been decided I need to ease the curves into the south end & add more sidings. With this in mind the civil side of things is progressing well, no track has been altered yet & will remain as is until all materials for renewal are on site..

The new land that has been reclaimed from... errrr.. farmland (read flowerbed) will become a loco stabling point. Coal & watering point as well with maybe a small shed for the station pilot to use. A messroom will also be built as well as stores.

Image
The first 4 houses are also being trial fitted in.

Image
Plus I did some more work on the hosue on Llangunllo bank.. It's rather big...HMMMmm. Needs bonding together now as it is 3 seperate blocks.

Lovin' your work Shane, that's looking great and I reckon will be the biz when you've finished :D
Certainly no need to photoshop the fence out eh?!

Ta Greg,
These things are spreading! Cheap & cheerful will do for now on my line, more expense can be spent on such things when I have the full line down. SO now Chyknell has places for people to live, a church to repent there sins, a boozer to aqquire more sins & a flour provendors to employ them... Certainly fills in some gaps & stops the trainshed looking massive!
