Well as things have settled down after xmas & a slight blip in the usual running of things some more work has been done.

The LGB coaches are now finished in corporate CVLR livery. Just need to decide on a crest & lettering design & get them made. Then I can cover over the crudly painted lettering & sorted.
I'm actually happy with how they have come out & find them a lot more "british" looking now than as they were. Now what to do with the IOM 4 wheeler? Hmm

Also finally the ground frost finally went out of the garden so I was lured outside to fettle stuff.

Elwell tunnel finally had work started on the tunnel mouth at one end. Looks a bit tight but things seem to go through alright. Put it this way, I sent the Jessie off from the bottom with a rake of various stock & it turned up back again with everything intact. :roll: :D

Mawll area got more slate/ rocks & I finally coated the brick structure that is my footbridge/occupation bridge. Just need to sort out the decking now.

Hopefully get cracking with some more stuff soon. Really need to start preparing the ground for the other side now, ready for this years big push at doing the full circuit around the garden.

As the day has been so nice & I had a day off it seemed a waste not to get out & tidy things up a little after the harsh winter. I'm loving how some of the bits are weathering in now & also glad that it all survived the cold weather so well.

Whilst tidying up of I decided to run a few trains, diesel of course so I could just send them off & they crawled round. Nice to do linesdie work with traffic going by..

Took some phot's of course...

No 5 on a short freight.

Elwell tunnel gets some darkening thanks to VHT spray..

The bottom station (to be built) gets some slate walling around it's flower beds.

No 11 takes charge of a loaded slate train & trundles along the line.

Last remenants of mamod... Just an old boiler with no end cap & smokebox.. Hashed up a fake firebox at the back & painted rust..Voila. Dead kettle. Hopefully that plant will take hold over it.

BTW I never intended to have this much slate in the garden, will put more plants in during teh spring but had to cover the soil over thanks to the damn cat dropping logs everywhere!

no, they get about 5cm square at their peak. they grow thick stems to extend their roots over land too. I found they tunneled between the track and the track bed causing all kinds of problems

Well as the line only recieved a second run round loop at the end of last year we never got around to just inviting someone over for a run as it ws too much hassle propelling stock about.
So finally the first guest loco hit CVLR's metals today when new to the forum member Sandy came over with his Carradoc. This loco had never been run, at least with a load on it's springs. Soon we had it running though & it did well as it stretched it's legs for the first time.

Also let Sandy loose with my fowler for a bit so he could try RC.

Anyway some pics of guest loco at work.

It's first run at Mawll summit.

Getting into it's stride.

It even fitted through Elwell tunnel.

Nice to meet you Sandy, will email you the pics later. Right so who's next to visit & check the CVLR's rather wierd loading gauge..?
