thats kind fo what i was guna do.
spray it grey primer, rub, primer, rub a bit, top coat, rub, etc until the finish looks good.
use watered down black/ grey etc for weathering, for the outside.
not sure about the inside. Has to be a bit brown from all the sheep poo poo, dorty, worn.

would the base planks have been painted?
I don't think so if they were just going to be trod and deficated upon by sheep!

there wouldnt have been much point.
it would only wear off. you never really see the inside of wagons painted

Another thing you can try is VERY dilute Indian ink - makes new wood look old. I'll probably do that with the replacement bits for my sheep wagon, so it looks like it was repaired some time ago.

ah yes, i have heard about using Indian ink. though couldnt remebr very well.

Do you know of any pictures with any of it done?

Now painted the wagon in its colour. the outside, and inner sides need weathering, i shall probably have my heart in my mouth when doing it.
the floor is weathered.

I like that - particularly the fact that the weathering doesn't go all the way to the sides - looks like it's not been long in service.

Yeah I also like the way the floor muck doesn't go to the sides... as sheep wouldn't put their feet there anyway.

Like the weathoring but what happened to all the sheep muck you promised?!!

i have worn, and weathered most of it now, i shall add some light rust colour to the metal bits.
The paint is special weathering paint from Phenix Percision,
worn wood, dirty black, and sooty deposits, which are perfect really.

Are these kits still available

as far as i know they arent.
P&J was bought by IP Engineering, but they havnt brought them out.
might be worth dropping them an email.
