Anyway I agree, looks better. Have also painted the ones between the frames for the reversing gear. Pistons are also now in black gloss rather than matt.

I know what you mean regarding the gloss finish but believe me I've had a right mare repainting this one.....

You can just see them in this pic, not the best one i know but i can't upload anything to photobucket etc while at school! But it really does make them stand out more!

and yeah i also had a real pain re-painting her as well, as on the last coat i got a massive drip appear (and you can still see it if you look close enough ) I think there just must be something about edrigs not liking being re-painted!

Have braved the cold again & been in the workshop!

Ok it's not that cold but I think a week of earlies has left me chilled through.

Anyway fencing update, the CVLR is trialing 3 different types currently.

1: Hardwood posts with steel 16swg wire threaded through drilled holes.


2: Coffee stirrer posts with 16swg wire threaded through drilled holes.


3: Coffee stirrers glued together.


So far I'm happy with 1 & 2 but not 3. We will see how hard wearing they are before the CVLR invest's further into fencing.

Also finally the CVLR has bowed to demand from the locals & built it's first animal wagon. Designed for sheep,goats,pigs & calfs. Staff have found that bulls & horses will fit at a squeeze.
This is the prototype with two more vehicles in the pipeline.

The lineside is looking excellent with the fences. I've had a picket style coffee stirrer fence outside for a few years and it seems to have survived OK.

Roo's Koala's etc will all fit!
Took my daughter down the local pet store earlier & they did have a selection of plastic almost 16mm scale animals, shame they were all a bit exotic for Shropshire/Welsh border applications. Don't normally see Zebra's, Impala's, Lions etc round these parts (Or dinosaurs!).
Quick question, who makes 16mm sheep?

I was only in there the other day & did not see anything worth while. Got my daughter the farm set that was later featured in the sun newspaper. The one where they removed the Pig out of the farm set incase it upset Muslim parents who may have bought the set?!?! Still makes a pig noise but it's now a donkey, thats really going to mess my childs mind up!.

they are there, I got my sheep from there they are the schleich range. you can also get dinosaurs if you so wish, for that jurassic park effect

Keep an eye out at the motorway service stations too - it was about this time last year that they had a terrific range of animals, I got a load of cows, horses, sheep, pigs and goats as well as some deer. And for an M way services, they weren't (dear)

In other news it looks like some enthusiast's were lineside this morning to capture No 7 (Fire-Fly) trial running on the line.









They overheard the driver talking to the traction inspector that all seemed well after No 7's rebuild & paint. Still needs some fettling with the fire was heard too.

Official reports suggest that now it's been tested it is booked in for a servo to be added to the regulator as driving on the reverser is not popular with the crews.

Been up the shed............Think it must be the fumes or something as I ended up doing this to my Rapier...



Well I was never keen on the wood finish of it!  :D  Plus the Fowlers old bufferbeam should add some much needed traction (If the loco can actually move itself with that on the front.

I guess I've started so I best get and finish it at some point.
