The High Weald Light Railway (HWLR), ex B&MLR

Hi All,

Theres been quite alot happening on the B&MLR recently so theres lots to tell you,

The lines first Loco has arrived at the Workshops ready to be put together, the loco is an IP Eng, Rapier. Its colour will be dark blue and the nameplates are currently being made for it.

As the lines manager liked the Coopercraft Wagons alot, 2 more have been ordered to help with the demand of materials from the Quarry at August Pitts. These are the LNWR Wagon and the NW Bolster/1 Plank Wagon.

The IP Gaurds Van is very near completion and so are the tippers.

One wagon that is complete is this:



It was made using a Binnie Skip Chassis and 4 coffee stirrers! This wagon will be used to transport workers around the quarry. I hope to eventually find some workers to sit on it. Decal will also be added once sorted out

Thanks for the comments guys!

Lots of work has been going on in both the workshops and the paintshops over the last week, 2 more wagons have been pulled out and unveiled to the manager. 6 Binnie Skip chassis' have arrived too, these are going to be the base for some more little projects  :D

I apologise in advance for the lack of photos the camera thought it would be dramatic and pass out due to lack of power  :( but i managed to get a few snaps  :D

They are:
A CooperCraft LNWR Wagon, the second wagon of its type to enter service on the B&MLR:

and the CooperCraft Single Plank/ Bolster Wagon

Oh i nearly forgot to mention, and before anyone points it out , I put the brake handle on the bolster wagon, just incase it ran as a 1 Plank Wagon, i know the instructions said that this type of wagon never had one but i also think it looks a lot more better too

What paint have you used for the inside of the 1 plank / bolster? Very good choice!

of course i do i just have quite a bit of spare time at the moment, and it seems that all the different projects i started a few months ago are all coming to the stage of completion at the moment

What paint have you used for the inside of the 1 plank / bolster? Very good choice!

Its Humbrol no.93 Desert Yellow its the same as that on the flying benches. but they have had 2 coats, the Bolster is still wainting for its 2nd coat.

i believe that the 2 i purchased off of you are not far off being completed soon too

So here it is, something different, its not a bird, its not a plane but it is a BLUE Slate Wagon. I thought i'd try something different to the normal grey/red maroon colour. I personally think its come out very well  8)

Hi All,

Lots has been going on the B&MLR/HWLR in recent weeks,

Firstly the Lines Manager has decided a name change was in order as the original line running between the villages was too short at only half a mile, this has been extended to meet up with the Southeastern Mainline and the old branchline that went from Paddock Wood to Hawkhurst (closed 1961), this line travels straight through the High Weald, so the new name of The 'High Weald Light Railway' has been adopted.

Next off the VOR Matchboard Guards Van is coming along very well, the main shell floor and solbars are in place and so are the duckets.

The Lines Loco is still under contruction, but isnt too far of completion now

The grey CooperCraft LNWR Coal Wagon is undergoing a colour change to match the newest blue one on the line so this will also be completed soon
