Dwayne,

I'm not sure if this latest piece of your work is still engineering or whether you have crossed the boundary into the production of art! Excellent work.

Timbering switch and crossing work has long been recognised as more artform than engineering so I think I may have my answer! It's one of the pway design tasks I find most rewarding when it goes right (and infuriating when I can't find a means of supporting all the bits that need supporting!)

Gradually making progress on the module. Unfortunately my back is still in a bit of pain from the vehicle accident which is aggravated by the height of the module if I work at it for more than a couple of hours.

The first two crossings are complete. Test runs of my little Bachmann Davenport pulling my three unfinished flat cars equipped with link & pin couplers allowed me to tweak things with the end result of relatively smooth runs going forward and reverse.

I still need to build the points for the switch that leads to the turntable.

My goal is to get everything wrapped up by next weekend and hand it off to David who is constructing the structures and doing the scenery.

I hope we will still get updates after you have handed it over for the scenics. Fasinating project.

Why don't you lift up / drop down the module to a more suitable height?

Speaking as one who also suffers lower back pain I can tell you there is no easy solution to this issue.... no matter what height the table/layout is, the pain will kick in and let you know when time is up!

Lovely work again Dwayne. That's a wonderful bit of trackwork! I hope I can come up to the same standards whjen the time comes for me to start building my own pointwork.
