It's a "Marie Estelle", modelled on a 3' gauge porter.

The loco had been out of use for a few years, so needs some cosmetic tidying and improvements. However, everything works and it has brand new boiler certificate (passing a hydraulic and steam test was part of the deal).

Steamed it up at kensey valley at the weekend where it performed very well despite the challenging track. I have a lot to learn about driving and firing!

Everything in this size is more serious than in the small scales; the working pressure is 90psi, and the boiler takes 5.5 litres of water.....

Is it a commercial build or a labour of love?

Seems to be home built, but has a commercial boiler (and some professionally made fittings).

Fits in nicely with my other locos size-wise and it even goes around the tight curves on my track, when pushed around at least.

Any chance of seeing it in steam round your line soon?

I am hoping to have a go steaming it at home this weekend.

Whilst we did run it at the weekend, that was in the dark, and on a less familiar track. It will be nice to take some time to get to know the loco, and try out some different lighting up & firing techniques...

And because I know that I would want to know....

....the price was roughly the same as a new coal fired 16mm scale loco (or two new "lady annes")........

Your a lucky man, I'm sure you will enjoy many happy hours using and working on it.
