Yep that's it. Could never get it to run. Ambitous first build. So sold on os project. Hope you save it.The boiler does steam. Or did a year ago. Heavy due to thick outer tube. Please keep me up to date. Be lovely to see it run

Last I heard one side of the valve gear now runs in both directions and has new frames and buffer beams and connecting rods. I bought it from a friend without really seeing it

I thought the frames where wrong, and im really glad you are fixing. Apologies for the terrible paint, never buy cheap paint. Again really happy it has a good home

So the L&M's have landed with a gentle thud... and resulted in a mad rearranging of my stock shelves to get them to actually fit somewhere safe...



They have run around the garden without issue except I now have to modify my station platform to allow them to pass... cause they don't at the moment... sorta expected but still slightly annoying.

The boiler is the original. There's not too much left that is original now really... the wheels and odd bits of valve gear are, as is the body, boiler, lubricator and for the moment the gas tank... the rest is brand new. All it needs now is a millie gas tank, karen crosshead and slidebars and russell dome.

I know it had a few problems. When it was sold by me it was sold for the price of the roundhouse parts. Near enough. I have to say love your line to. Doesnt over throw the garden. Shame your not closer. Would love to see it and the loco

Bournemouth? That's only 2 ish hours away... But there are plenty of places between here and there... Brambleton is worth a visit and will probably be the place it gets its first good long proper run.

I've got to tidy up the line a bit this year as it has no ballast at the moment thanks to the rain and the dog... so I think some shuttering on the edge of the wood would be a good idea and then build the soil up either side to bring it to the right height.

I was admiring the grit and determination of the gang involved in digging the stranded goods out of the snow when my son glanced up from a computer game and told me he found it all "a bit Thomas the Tank Engine"...

I liked that video too. Although we had snow I didn't get out early enough, it had all gone by the time I was able to think about some video.

That's one hard working little loco Laurence. I loved the billowing steam in the cold air. An excellent video I really enjoyed.

Thanks for posting the link to that marvellous old black and white film Andrew. That snow looked like it was well and truly packed in around the stranded goods train, but what I found fascinating was that the loco was iced in due to having melted the snow while it was still hot and the water freezing on all the moving parts once it cooled down.

Sunday just gone I went out with my sledge hammer, claw hammer, plastic block, pliers and a spirit level to make a few adjustments to the track bed. The rather roller coaster back straight is now flat and ready for putting a station in and the bottom of the bank is now not as steep as it once was, I also removed two kinks that were a bit troublesome so now the track is now leek proof again!

Wasn't aware rogue vegetables were a problem on your line.
