Here´s how the K&NWLR dry stone walling "works" (i.e. hasn´t fallen over yet).

Make sure you get a firm base on modelling clay to stop said wall from falling over on builder. Second, use French PVA glue to make sure wall doesn´t fall on builder when wind blows. Lastly, have sufficient bits of slate on hand in old ice cream container (rock ´n´ raspberry ripple) to finish job

Marvelous stuff - I sometimes have trouble working out what scale it is and then I see the pecket and realise how huge the scenery must be! Will you be weathering the wall with spots of green, orange and grey paint for lichen?

I thought about letting the rain in and waiting for real lichen to accumulate, but the current Ms K&NWLR isn´t in favour, unless I want to sleep there myself too. The scenery has yet to follow (trees, bushes, and yes, lichen, little plants etc. on / and in the walls themselves.

That walling looks super, I expect modelling clay wouldn't work outside, but I suppose the technique might work with a sound enough concrete base.

Here´s where the inspiration came from, and the bits of slate to make dry stone walling. Treddol offers "mortared" walls, which are probably better outside

I just got some pics from Geoff of Lightline lining out fame, and wanted to share one with you.

Let´s imagine that the French Decauville company opened a branch office in North Wales to take advantage of the rapidly expanding slate business transporting from the quarry to the harbour, with the appropriate locos. And then there´s the question of whether the Welsh weather would have required an enclosed cab ..... (see second pic).

The first pic from is from Geoff´s tracks in Yorks. after lining out, the second is a little idea that is developing in my idle mind.

Lovely locos, Geoff does a great job - he has my new Criccieth Castle with him now - cannot wait to see it and get it back!!

Phwoooaarrrrr!!! Especially the little 'un. Lovely looking locos, bet you can't wait to get your hands on them. Proposed new cab looks good, but the original's lovely too... Would your design be "lift off" so you could have whichever one suited your mood?

I suppose I could do a Quarry Hunslet style thing with a lift off cab- but I quite fancy another engine
