One little comment (re the photo looking back to the branch on the left) You've got quite a sharp edge to to trackbed on the left hand side and you're going to have to watch the Rowlands Mix there.
Because it's weak (compared to concrete), sharp edges and exposed "thin" coverings of 'Mix are very vulnerable to erosion.
Best to avoid 'em by really rounding off the ballast shoulder, either before applying the 'Mix ballast, or when fettling the trackbed
One of the beauties I've found when using it though, is that it's dead easy to "touch up" - just get the mixing bucket out, knock some up, brush it in place & water it! SIMPLES

To be honest it came out less than perfect, it's a bit curve/straight/curve/curve/straight/curve. Was the first bit I fixed down, it got better the more I did. However I like it now.

Actually some trains ran today, Apart from the Rapier's little trip the other day we had the first trains over the "Ballested" track. The IP Jack took honours of first loco over the section after filling in for failed CVLR #1 (The old upgraded mamod which decided it didnt like it's bix burner anymore & threw bits of ceramic about). CVLR #7 (Edrig) became first kettle over the line in steam. Both on works trains before the IP Jack took a Inspection special over the completed formation.

I even made some video (not bad for only having 20 foot of track so far.)

CVLR #7 "Firefly" propels a works train towards the station.



Ex MHLR Jack works the inspection saloon. Her/His majesty's (Depending on year modelled) Railway inspectorate has been well "Oiled" in the bogie brake from a hastily added bar. Hopefully he will not notice some of the dodgy bits & grant us our light railway order!!  :twisted:

absolutely fantastic!

Have had no time at all the last few days, got an hour before work this afternoon so hit the garden centre & got some bits & then wanged them out in the garden. I'm quite happy with it. There is other stuff going on on the line & soon will be able to show even more track down. It's just foundations at the moment though.






Finally can anyone see anything wrong with the P-Way in this shot, I must confess I have not noticed until the other day & it's been like that for 21 years now!!

Correct!! I had not even noticed & I've owned that switch for 21 years!! Only noticed when I put your old Jack in the dirt shunting over it.... Need to sort that out, I wonder why it never had any?

Lovely, you IP locos seem very quiet for battery locos, most of them make an anoying erng erng erng sound when going along...

The IP sealed gearboxes do seem to be very quiet. And lots of lubrication helps.

More WIP has taken place!

The lines first station was completed trackwise today.

It will have an island platform eventually, the 3rd road is a siding built using 21year old knackered peco sm32. It's laid really light with only a 4" deep square of concrete every now & then to support it & infilled with gravel. Will see how it gets on.


Tuesday's work at sealing in some lintels & building light supports for the siding.

Looks like this will be one epic railway! Very impressed at your speed, the outcome is superb!

How are you dealing with the drainage of the 'sunken' areas of the railway i.e. the station area?

In theroy, I have a slight tilt to the one side in the station area, this would allow water to disperse towards the siding area. As this is mostly just laid ontop of gravel with no concrete underbase (except for every 6" roughly) then I'm hoping the deep in places gravel will drain it.
As said in theroy! Think it's ended up a tad more level than I planned, oh well back to brunel style water pumps then!!
