Dan,

When I toyed with the idea of a 'Dougal' in 5" gauge, I emailed the W&LLR through their website with a few questions. After a week or so, I got a reply with all my questions answered.

I urge you to do the same.

I didn't ask about the colour, though!

Sorry Dan, I've been through my library but can't find any reference to the actual colour - I'd second the suggestion to try the W&L direct, they're usually very helpful :D

I would suggest its a north eastern railway colour. The hunslet 'Jack Lane' is described as being NER loco green which looks damn close.

It is supposed to be Glasgow Corporation Green.

Certainly looks right Chris, and Phoenix paints/ cherry paints used to stock the colour as part number C225. No longer stocked but they may be able to suggest the nearest alternative.

Thanks for the replies, I've sent an Email to Phoenix and hopefully they will be able to sugest an alternative.

Your next stop could be crich tramway museum. With the colour appearing on trams they my have a pot or a BS number to have some mixed.

Right, will look into it further in the new year, or when the loco gains some tanks.

The only problem with "pictures" is that they're notoriously inaccurate for colour reference. Different lighting conditions, angles, camera's, computer displays / printers etc all giving different shades ;)
(A recent W&L facebook photo showed Chattenden maroon! - it was the setting sun that caused the effect!)

Thanks for the picture - the green IS Glasgow Corporation green, as used on trams, trolleybuses and motor buses in that city.

OK - I finally got around to speaking to somebody in the workshop at the Tramway Museum this morning. The chap I spoke to kindly went into the stores and looked at the last tin of paint they'd had: it was supplied by T & R Williamsons, the reference numbers on the tine were SP7905 and 290313 and it was called........................ wait for it.................. Glasgow Bus Green!

Sorry if that's not as helpful as it might have been, but it's likely to be the best we're going to get!
