Bonfire Night Steamup on the PTLR
Bonfire Night Steamup on the PTLR
Following several months where the Pine Tree Light Railway has been out of action due to house repairs (regulars might have noticed no mention of a PTLR fest this year), the beginning on November finally sure the line back in action, typically with a North West Area Group steamup. The weather was at times thoroughly miserable, and the lawn pretty much turned into a peat bog however there were still plenty of trains in the dry periods. Real fireworks were provided in the form of rockets and Britomart the mamod (and its owner....) whilst the light effects were further enhanced by some impressive lightning
The first hour or two were dry, which Matt used to get a run in with Rebecca
Things had got wet by the time SLR midge got Kittiwake out
James also brought Dolmur Goch for a run, which went double heading with another black Lady Anne
I took along Owain, along with the lit coaches which looked lovely when it got dark
Rebecca passes Pine Tree Road sheds
Owain approaches Sleighton Heathers
Crossing the viaduct. We did actually have one train get part blown off, but the L&B brake van and IoM coach involved were undamaged and despite a forecast saying otherwise, the wind actually died down meaning that trains could carry on running
As dusk headed for night, Britomart came out to play
A rubbish pic of the special double header, James got some much better ones
As it happens, the week didn't finish there. James said it was awfully late to be getting back to York, and asked if he could spend the night here. Taking pity on him, the spare room was offered. More fun happened the following day on the ANLR

"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

As Laalratty has mentioned on my presence at the PTLR last night...here is my set of photos
Dolmur Goch had a run about piloting a Lady Anne on the IoM bogie carriages on the line.
With the weather being rather windy...meths firing came into it's element as Britomart prepares for take off!
Owain is piloted by the same Penrhyn Lady Anne as before
..and to finish off, Dolmur Goch and Britomart are disposed of on shed.

And so onto the ANLR for a quick session before James went home
With James steaming Britomart, I decided to go for my pot boiler, Gwydion
The Killer Bunny was overjoyed to see his second favourite loco coming to visit him (Note for newer members, the Killer Bunny is a long running NWAG joke, based very much on the bunny from Monty Python and the Holy Grail)
Gwydion passes Ty Pren halt
Passing trains
The bunny was partaking in its usual train surfing activities
Gwydion pulls into Afallen with an up train
Britomart rounds the headland
Meanwhile, the bunny could not resist living up to its name
More pics round Afallen
Thanks go to the PTLR staff for a great steamup, and James for hanging round until Sunday and making it an all weekend event

Great photos, looks like you may have a Rabbit causing some trouble.
