Following on from that it did occur to me that most Garden Railway items, in 16mm at least, are somwhat unique.
There is very little RTR stuff and most kit built items are personalised to a greater or lesser extent and so would be quite easy to recognise when they surfaced for sale.
Most of us photograph our stock and many post items on the web or in magazines.
I would have thought that most stuff is stolen to sell on, and I would imagine that ebay would be the place where most of it would end up eventualy. Its not like the knocked off telly that could be moved on to pretty much anyone. Our models are only going to interest a very limited market place and the 16mm community seems quite a close one.
Like many of us here, I do keep an eye on ebay and sometimes stuff appears that does make you think a bit when you read the listings. I know that most of it is legitimate but occasionaly I find myself wondering where some items came from.
Just a little thought.
