A New Acquisition---1984 Roundhouse Dylan

Post by Paul H » Tue Jan 29, 2013 3:11 am

After a long and tense 9 days, my newly acquired 1984 vintage Rouundhouse Dylan arrive home from Diamondhead, Mississippi, home of the International Small Scale Steamup. I was really pleased to find it available for sale in the flea market at what I thought was a reasonable price. Without further ado...

Well done, an object of desire of my younger days!

I liked your Old Colonial posted over on FB as well.

Garrett,
I got lucky with the Dylan. The Old Colonial took a fair bit of work to get back up to scratch cosmetically. Dylan appears to have done limited running and the original paint is in good shape. I need to sort out a bit of timing, but I am really looking forward to relaxed running with the meths fired Roundhouse pair.

............... and all Roundhouse need to do is to modify the body etch to fit the Silver Lady mechanicals - the two were always the same in that regard.

Fine looking loco Paul! My 1983 Lady Anne runs very well still, and my 1985 Pooter does too - after a "little" work :)
Enjoy!
Cheers
Chris

Chris,
Both of your vintage models are an inspiration. Dylan's packings seem a little in the hard side and will probably end up being replaced. I did the valve glands on my 1985 Old Colonial last year during its restoration, and I think I should do the same on Dylan. Fortunately, there is no appreciable wear on the valve gear components, so a bushing job is not in the offing.
