Red face time. When I looked at the Cambrianmodels web site, I only looked at the metal gear sets and did not realise they did cheap plastic ones as well. So I shall get all three ratio's and experiment. I was going to leave the coach and mail van till I had the engine up and running, but it looks like there will not be room for batterys so I may need to put them in the mail van with a link lead.
I am thinking of sawing out the existing axle mounts, and fitting a plasticard chassis inside the existing frames. As these coaches are fetching silly money on E-bay, I suspect a lot are ending up on garden railways. So if anyone has done this conversion, lets hear from you. Regards Chufferman.

I haven't taken the loco apart yet,but it appears to be held together by 5 phillips screws. Just managed it with no damage. The trick is to remove one back wheel, then the 5 screws. Gently ease off the roof,it's glued on. It will then gently prise apart. The smoke box door has a piece screwed to it. If that is removed then there's room in the boiler for 2 AAA's There's room for a couple of AAA batteries transverse in the bunker as well or in lieu. The seat moulding just slides out,or leave it in for a steam outline tourist type train.
