Hello,

New ballasting technique applied dry then sprayed with water, much prefer this method, I'm not to bothered about the size of the ballast anymore.

There is hopfully much more scenic stuff to come from the SHR this summer, including atleast one station and a large slate cutting.

LOL oversize ballast is one thing my dad gets annoyed about when commenting on other railways
He'ed say he didn't like it but I think it looks great

Looking great SB! This is the method I am going to use, because I found that its faster, and the water washed some of the cement colouring off my chippings making it look a lighter colour...

Have had the idea to just give thet track a quick going over with the black spray can just to see if it gives it more depth.

I've started getting moss growth in some area of my ballest, not bad for being in for only just 1 year

Eeek, the scenery didn't happen because the weather was terrible, what did happen however was the ballast started to fall off

I think due to incompatibility with the wood, so I need to find a new method for next summer.

Today I removed the lettering and weathered up the forklift truck and it now look mighty fine even if I say so myself. At the same time I weathered up some pallets, crates and barells but you'll have to wait for laalratty's visit when if the weather's nice all the crap will come out

Ballast is a pain! I find that it's impossible to clear the line of leaves without losing a good deal of ballast as well (unless you pick up every leaf individually, of course...!) In fact some sections of the MVR are now completely devoid of ballast...but it's gradually being replaced by moss, and I'm tempted to leave it like that!

I had this brainwave over Christmas which told me to build up the yard area so it looked more realistic. The plan is to lay geotextile over the soil then fill it up with chippings.

I took this photo because it was getting dark but since then I have completed laying the platform edging at Seibiant Isaf, if the weather's nice tomorrow I'll probably put the platform fill in, the gap in the edging on the board is for my proposed removable station building front, I'll probably get the bits for this at Stoneleigh.

I'm not too sure about the ballast around the platform, it perhaps makes the platform look a little too low, may have to add another layer of edging.

This afternoon I added another course of edging (not that visible in this photo) so hopefully tomorrow morning I can top up the platform fill and Gag can test it out later in the day. I've also posed the (un-painted) platform furnioature in this photo.
