The Wheldon wagon polished off another railway today, and this was a big'un off the list
The Pine Tree Light Railway and PTLR north (in recievership)

Image
First loco to pull the wagon was "Brian", a tram that I believe is a Wheldon design, from the Southern Railway of Northern Ireland. It is based round a mamod stationary engine

Image
Next up was PTLR number 1, PTLRsam's very first loco. This is Pephyr, built to a Jack Weldon design in Railway Modeller. This uses Mamod and meccano parts, with bodywork from an old oil can! PTLRsam also made some nice cranks, and other parts not featured in the original design. The brakevan is an Archangel original as made for running with the Jack.

Image
Finally, out came the Archangel Jack for a bit of coal fired hauledge.
I'll post some more general pics of the steamup later on, maybe tommorow.

Well today the Wheldon wagon didn't have to travel far to tick off its next line, all the way out of my back door and onto the Afonglas and Nant Llywyd Railway

Image

Motive power choice was my 2006 Roundhouse Millie "Gwydion", running with a "heritage" rake of my first wagon, kit built guards van and carriages (kit and scratchbuild)

The Wheldon wagon is generally put on the back, because its weird suspension system can make it a liability with stuff coupled beind it! It also has a very weird motion on the rails!

More Wheldon wagon-ness, with the third Morecambe NWAG line covered

Image
This time it was the Little Morecambe Steam Railway of LMSjools. Loco used was the Tendered Accucraft Lawley conversion "Lady of the Lake" that Jools serialised the construction of on here.

Crossing the long bridge

Image
Alas things didn't quite go to plan, as the wagon's dubious suspension had it bouncing off the rails again!

The Wheldon wagon also made the trip into North Yorkshire and the Ingleton Mountain Railway

Image
For the first time I believe, the loco was the most recent Roundhouse loco in its year of release, in this case "Tom Rolt"

Image
After running with a single carriage which the wheels then fell off (!), the wagon then went on the back of a full Tallylyn train

After a short break, the Wheldon wagon carried on its world tour of the North West of England with a visit to the Stanwix Light Railway in Carlise.

Loco used was a former Longlands and Western Railway loco, an Accucraft Superior now named Lady Yvonne

The lighting conditions made for some atmospheric photos

Such as this one!
More pics from the steamup at this SLR to come...

The Wheldon wagon is now coming towards the end of its tour of the NWAG, with the last of the Morecambe lines polished off today as it visited the Silverdale Light Railway (south)

Image
Loco chosen was the line's resident Regner Willi on a short goods train

Image
Slowly steaming off towards Yealand
Just a couple more lines to go now, where I'm probably going to have to persuade the owners to hold out of season steamups

Good to see it still doing the rounds.
If everybody has signed it there can't be any bare body left!

Will it tour the south next?

Realised I've let this get behind, and the wagon did visit the Fairfield Railway and the first NWAG steamup of 2011.

Image
The FR is dual gauge, but the wagon only managed a trip on the 45mm line on a transporter wagon, hauled by resident Roundhouse/Beck Helene "Blaze Away"

Not sure where it's going next, there are still some NWAG lines it hasn't visited but I think these can be counted on the fingers of one hand

It actually re-started this leg of its tour at Butterley (after some quite extensive detective work ;) )
