Removing super glue

Post by tom_tom_go » Wed Jan 11, 2012 4:52 pm

Hi there,

I have some wooden solebars I need to remove that are super glued in place to the body of a wooden wagon.

Any ideas how I can do this without destory the wagon in the process?

Cheers,

Tom

super glue cannot withstand sheering forces.. Grip the sole bar with pliers and rock gently along the length a bit at a timeand it should free itself.

Make sure you use plenty of cloth between the pliers jaws and the solebar though, otherwise you'll make a mess of 'em.

From experience, the technique suggested by Sir C.C does work! :D

Great idea about the using the vice. Shame I didn't read this before I destroyed the wagon in the process ;)

I ended up using nail varnish remover and cutting the solebar in sections then knocking the pieces out with a hammer.

Nevermind, I was not happy with it so it's given me a chance to re-do a few things.

Cheers,

Tom
