*sigh*
They use "steam chest pressure" to quantify regulator setting.
Still no pictures of tender drawbars, eh?
Well nuts to all of you then. I'll come up with something myself.

Yep, it's nearly Christmas, so let's have some nuts!!
(Maybe because it
is nearly Christmas, everyone with tender engines are just too busy to get back to you Keith

)

I just finished the fall-plate for my engine. I made it from thick sheet brass and made my own hinges. It looks pretty good. I won't post any pictures.

Sorry Keith, missed your request. Been too busy before/during Xmas. The fowler just uses a chain to couple to tender. Mines an earlier one. I think they changed to drawbar on later ones. Can get a pic if you want?

That's OK Shane, it's done now anyway. I had a drawbar mounted to the spot the buffer would have been without the tender, and I've made the fall-plate hinged to the bottom of the cab, with a rounded end on the tender side so it doesn't hit the tender on curves. It just provides a little bridge for the fireman to get coal without a big gap between the front of the tender and the back of the engine. I think it makes the engine look better because it makes the connection between it and the tender look more substantial.

I found the fallplate two days ago and instantly painted it black. Can take photos for comparison's sake when I assemble the tender. For a 'drawbar' Im just using chains though -adds flexibility.
