Thanks, I might renumber her thinking about it and simply add a D prefix to River Ankh again.

Smaller numbers would look better too I think.

I am very interested in buying a Modeltown 'Tadja' body kit, probably in Feb of 2012.

Instead of using the Modelcraft budget chassis option, I plan to mount the finished body kit onto a standard LGB/Playmobil 0-4-0 Motor Unit.

This will allow me to run the Tadja using the rail pick up shoes as per standard LGB rolling stock. I'm no modeller, and maybe I will have to modify or add to the original kit somewhat, but I have to start somewhere.

Having purchased two old playmobil 0-4-0 locos, I will have two complete motor units, while saving the original (low detail) bodies for spares. If all goes well with the Tadja, I will attempt another little project, maybe a closed-cab Hunslet.

Whatever happens, I will photograph my efforts!

Sounds interesting, I'm afraid I can't give you any idea of the relevant measurements at the moment, as I'm away from the fleet for another week or two. I do like the closed cab Hunslets, are you looking at the GRS kit?

Thanks for the reply, but no, I'm not looking for a GRS Hunslet kit yet, as I have to recover financially from buying the two playmobil locos and then buying the Tadja body kit early next year.

However, I already have an open cab Hunslet, bought ready to run (about fifteen years ago) from GRS. This is fitted with LGB type pick-up shoes and a smoke stack too, so it looks great when running, hence my interest in a closed cab version.

Looking forward to getting things moving shortly though!

I haven't been completely inactive this last month, but essays & revision have stopped work. But I have repainted Ivy's bunker, the chimney topper and front buffer beam and renumbered her to No.4, thanks for the idea Narrow Minded!

I've also gone mental with the trimline again.
Next running day is in a weeks time, all Offler needs is a good battery pack & a few minutes with a soldering iron & paintbrush. And as a treat for when my exams finish on Thursday I should have 2 more IP 'Ezee' kits to build.

Offler is alive again! 5 months & 4 days after her elecrtical failure, and 2 months & 8 days since any work was done on her, I've finally got everything back together! At the moment the battery pack is on charge but on a quick test she seemed quick. Still no sign of the IP kits though.

At the next running day on Sunday I'll probably take my Swift Sixteen coach & see if the new improved Offler can haul it otherwise I might put it up for sale.

She looks rough, but working locos rarely were polished beacons of perfection. The jaunty angle of the cab back sheet comes from a running day collision in June

It's a mess but R/C in a Ffion is possible, so if I do get another one (Peterborough maybe) I'll be able to make a far better job of it!

I did think of adding some lining, but I don't really think she'd look good with lining, possibly very thin lines but Trimline can only be so fine.

In between lectures, essay writing, exams, my phone and camera dying and getting a replacement phone I've managed to do some modelling!

I've finished an IP 'Ezee' tool van & coach, repaired the stock that was damaged last month and am well on the way with the repaint of the former No.36.

The replacement No.36, the P-Way men are thrilled to have an insulated coach, unfortunately it isn't glazed!

The old No.36 once again covered in paint.

Thoughts have been turned to my Swift Sixteen coach, last time Offler tried hauling it, the Croc god did struggle but new electronics & more weight it might do the trick, if not I might ebay it or sell it at Peterborough.

Good luck with the test run, that Swift Sixteen coach looks neat and it'd be a shame if you had to sell it.

In the build up to the next running day on Sunday the workshop is open again. Van 29 (River Ankh's support van) & the 'ezee' brake van are both being repainted as they were both looking very tatty, especially the brake van. The fact that the grey & yellow I used on the coach & tool van are a good few shades lighter had no bearing on that decision! ;) The repaint of the former P-Way coach is finished and it's now No.24. I've also made a stove pipe chimney for Ivy, it probably needs to be cut down a bit more but it does give a certain elegance to her.

I'm hoping to sell the Fowler rail bus, Type 2 Quarryman's coach & the Swift Sixteen coach on the M2M sales, so they've had some attention to look presentable.
The big brake van has been repainted, so that it won't look too out of place with the rest of my 'big' rolling stock along with Jack's Millie.

That's more or less it, until Saturday that is!

I've got my first proper steam loco, Jack's Millie and I've ordered a box, & nameplates for her. I've also got her a safety valve bonnet & Rundhouse number plates for the entire fleet. I've also bought a couple of the new IP 'live steam beginners coaches', they look about right for what I want, & most importantly their cheap! :D Then yet another AnDel industrial open & Binnie skip. The Fowler did sell but the 2 coaches haven't, the Swift Sixteen one will be repainted eventually.

Minnie with; Safety valve bonnet, numberplate, back of buffer beams painted black, buffer painted, vacuum pipes fitted. The rear buffer beam was drying when the photo was took.

I think that when repainted she'll keep the maroon, I'm currently undecided on lining.

Despite modelling for what feels like days I haven't seemed to have done much! I've finished the first coach, like every other IP kit I've built it fell together until glazing. I kept making a mess so I'm leaving it out. Vacuum pipes are also not really possible due to the lower buffer beam. The other coach, skip & open wagon are in varying stages of completion.

What sort of paint should I use on Minnie's tanks & cab?

Minnie's tanks, bunker & spectacle plate have been repainted and the bufferbeams & RH cylinder have had their paint touched up, I might have a crack at lining her when Roundhouse release their lining masks. I've finished the IP 'live steam beginners range' brake/luggage coach and the AnDel open, the coaches have been fitted with older Brandbright vacuum pipes , while they are cruder they are better at staying coupled.

Any idea of the diametre of the wheels of the coaches? I have some of the body parts and I might try and get hold of some of the bits to make one up
