watched this as soon as it came on iplayer yesterday, I agree very good, looking forward to part 2. I can't really understand the arguments of people against it though, as it has quite obviously improved the economy for the area, and it is really that noisy? I can however see the farmers viewpoints, as a split must add difficulties for them, but I'm sure they have been compensated.

oh I havent even watched it yet and I already hate who ever said that!andysleigh:61592 wrote:the people against it anoy me.
one of them said it takes up good walking routes.
if the railways hadnt been there originally, you wouldnt even have the walking routes!!
What kind of argument is that???
You can walk almost anywhere, only a colossal t**t would think that the loss (no sorry re-capture!) of a railway walk was a worthy argument against a truly huge tourist attraction which will bring untold amounts into the local ecconemy!
Im gonna watch it later and shout at the screen when that lines spoken!
A steam propelled life-style.

Yes, and you can bet your bottom dollar that those who whinge
about the return of the railway are the same people who want motorways and by-passes built so they can get to and from their rural idyll quicker, but that's in someone else's backyard.
A narrow guage railway is an enhancement to any landscape, end of story. (Well that's my view anyway

These people just want to say that they live in an unspoilt valley with views of a lake and the mountains and they dont see a sole all day.. how boring! A hundred years ago quarryman walked miles to work, worked long hours risking their lives to put slate on their roofs. I would love the WHR to run beside my house anyday and surely taking the train to Carnaervon is better than driving there.
Long may it run and bring enjoyment to the majority..

It never ceases to amaze - and infuriate - me that people just can't seem to understand that by taking cars off the road trains reduce noise and pollution in the countryside overall.
Dare I mention HS2 yet again?!
Still, it was a very good programme, the shots of 138 at work in SA were particularly interesting IMHO.

There's a great view of the back of me waiting for the first WHR Crossing at Brittania Bridge (It's the view before they show the train crossing, i'm wearing a plain grey hoodie and dark grey bluey jeans and the other shot I could only point out because I knew I was there (I was in the background somewhere when Pete Waterman was being interviewed on Port Station

A bit static -- can't nominate an Oscar for that one. Is that a protestor (in red) next to you with the banner ?DolwyddelanLightRail:62321 wrote:There's a great view of the back of me waiting for the first WHR Crossing at Brittania Bridge
Definately can't allow that one -- that's like shouting "Yellow Car" for one you saw yesterday !!!DolwyddelanLightRail:62321 wrote: and the other shot I could only point out because I knew I was there (I was in the background somewhere when Pete Waterman was being interviewed on Port Station
