Stripe or half yellow Poll

Post by williamfj » Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:03 am

I'm currently painting my IP Rapier 'River Ankh' (Once it's done I'll post some photos of it) and I'm currently unsure whether to give it a half yellow panel or continue the yellow stipe on the body, once I know what to do I can paint the yellow bits.

I think the half yellow if it goes all round the bonnet and not just the front.

I'd say "neither" and go for wasp stripes on the buffer beams - more authentic!

If your going for yellow on the front, i would paint the whole front yellow personally (then again, i think i'm influenced too much by standard gauge diesels... )

To do Wasp stripes I'd have to remove the buffer, I've learnt a lesson from that!

you don't have to remove the buffers just paint round them.

Yes I like that!!! Very industrial. It's a good eye catching scheme & the plates in that colour sets it off beautifully. It'll be one of the best Rapiers out there

Looks neat, but I prefer the sripe
Body colour front end to the loco grill area and yellow beam.

Sorry Narrow Minded but I've gone for half yellow but to tone it down it'll be weathered to some degree. The brake van and support van (all will be explained) will be painted in similar liveryies, only some moron somehow mismatched the masking heights on the van and brake van! Wasn't me guv!

Sounds like you have the same calibre employees as we do here on the Westwood & Loscoe! "You just can't get the staff!"

I voted for the stripe. Never been a fan of yellow warning panels myself!
