I think the MHLR can provide appropriate hills.

I have far too many carriages! All will be given working brakes as well once my set of standard components goes into production...

Oh for sure! Shame Zachs can't be converted onto 32mm.
Also, I would also add to "a full rake of coaches and a hilly line"; and a clutch to disengage drive from the motor so you can actually use the brakes properly!

I guess that is with a steamer though? With a battery loco, once you switch it off, it stops almost instantly...

No i am on about a braked coach. going up the hill and we uncoupled it and released the brakes, and it barely had time to gain enough momentum to get anywhere and the brakes were on and it had stopped!
Thanks,

Been int shed today.
I fitted the air dump valve which I bought at Ally Pally but in drilling out a hole in the dash board a little wider I managed to nearly destroy the cab

I also fitted the regulator control made out of a piece of small copper pipe and brass rod soldered up, bottom crimped and filed so that it fits in the slot in the potentiometer. The handle and pot are glueing together as we speak.

The air regulating cylinder under the loco is still giving me problems as it won't budge under air pressure, or slide back when air is released, to complicate matter worse the hand pump in the guards carriage isn't working any more either! Must be the cold...

Well, having slightly damaged the loco I got round to gluing it back together:

(Yes the desk is a mess)
Dom in the cab, the break stands can be seen as well as the lowered cab back.

The control panel now with all controls fitted, only the sound controls are not wired up/plumbed in.
From left to right:
Air dump valve (brakes on), Pump on latched switch (brakes off), engine sound card latched switch, regulator, horn PTM switch, Reverser, Master on/off.

and from the side:

The other side of the bonnet stuck on:

The pump and brake hose stand:

The cramped inside with pump etc, still need to install sound bits and bobs

and the underneath showing brake feed back system which controls the pump.

Still lots to do!

Bother, I thought I'd do the whole electric loco thing and just run a loco up and down for a few minuets but it struggled with 1 carriage and then all of a sudden stopped and whined. The worm has stripped the wheel and now I'll have to take it all apart again!!
