Choices...

Post by Adam R » Thu Mar 25, 2010 12:37 pm

Hi all- having nearly got most of the construction of my tr van 5 done... i want another little project. im wanting to make one of the following but cant decide... there all engines...

Talyllyn no 5 (48DL)- like this one alot...
the big yellow 48DL on the mrt. like this more than the one above as its bright yellow...
Corris No 8 Hunslet... like this one tooo
Corris No 6 Ruston LF- though I plan on doing tr 8 at some point with real haydrotatic transmission- and will Probably make 2...
Corris No 5... cant fit the planned drivetrain in this one.
Talyllyn No 10 like this one- but dont have a drawing... anyone got a drawing of a simplex t class?- or any good photo's

Id Quite like to make a chassis from steel with an epicyclic gearbox and chunky bevel gears- I will be welding the chassis up(tacks to minimise Distorsion) and bodywork will Either be steel tacked again- or brass soldered with brass hinges soldered to the workpeice to make the panels openable.

The controls will be manual and i wont teach you to suck eggs :P.

votes please! :)

A TR van surely means a TR loco would make sense? I'd go with midlander as Its an iconic loco on the TR, Mersysider in my opinion is....well......ugly. I suppose now bryn is in green its not a bad little loco.
Any piccys of your van 5?
I'll show you mine if you show yours.lol

Haha- when I get home from work ill try upload some- its only as bit of balsa and some stripwood- its to scale dimensions just the beading needs 'thickening' and the little carving's need sanding in.

then doors- roof- bufferbeams- and paint. toying with making the brakes working.

I agree with Sir Hadyn, midlander just looks nicer.
