Now that is is 2010 and all, what are our new years resolutions?
Mine are:
Keep my bedroom tidy (I know I know I am unorganised!!)
Have a realaid track in the flowerbed,
Get a set of good GCSEs
Have a 5 inch gauge loco by any means possible!!!

The railway which people forgot
(to build)
Only one- get fitter and healthier. A bit more exercise and a bit less bacon sandwiches....
On the railway front, our area group (Axholme & Lindsey) has the tradition of The List. At the final weekday evening steamup of the season, everybody puts their name on the list along with one job, be it huge or small, that they intend to get done before the start of the next season. Mine for this winter is to take my Accucraft Lyn, fix the timing and a couple of other faults (broken ponytruck pivot and front cowcatcher), repaint it into the LRJA standard livery of royal blue (lining too if I'm feeling very brave) and fit R/C. Progress so far? I've nearly finished Charles Pooter, so now have the space on the workbench for Lyn (soon to be Rebecca). Having one engine in bits all over the bench is risky enough, given how easy it is to lose small parts or forget where they go- two sets of bits is a disaster waiting to happen!

Well I'm pretty much "on track" with all the above,...............
Tidy up and organise Pentrich Sidings (my workbench - it's a state!)
Replace W&LLR No4 with a live steam loco asap.
Aquire a Roundhouse loco by the end of 2010.
Repaint rolling stock for a more "corporate" image.
Add another show and/or garden meet to my Stoneleigh Pilgrimage
And get to bed earlier, er I don't think so ! Wrong line of work !
Lets re-visit this thread at the end of December and see how we all get on eh?

Spend less money on booze and save it up for something useful.
Less putting off uni work 'till the last minute.
Fix at least one of the motorbikes in the not too distant future. Preferably the 125cc, with the patented 16mm Steam Locomotive Transportation Device, aka a couple of ammo boxes which is neither patented nor anywhere near the bike...

You could go to:Narrow Minded wrote:Add another show and/or garden meet to my Stoneleigh Pilgrimage
http://www.eastmidlands.16mm.org.uk/diary.html and pick one, or could we add YOURS to the list? I would think most East Midlands Group members have a regaugeable loco, if you can provide the stock...............

Hi Brian,
The East Midlands group will be my first port of call, and seeing as you're (League Of Gentlemen voice...) local,
As for hosting, my current residence is a tiny terrace with a er, "compact" back garden on a cul de sac with atrocious parking, but hey - no obstacle too great so I'll add
Host a garden meeting
to my new years resolution list.
Splitting the topic, but while I'm here, can you point me in the direction of your post for a rail bender using a welders clamp?

I think the general plan is along the lines of:
Get the house sorted a bit (we moved two weeks ago)
Put up the temporary line on the patio to get something going for now
Survey the new garden and do some planning
Start tracklaying (preferably before next Christmas) ...
