I would say those are ideal, and printing figures as a group is a great idea. Posing individual figures in a carriage can be quite a pain!

It's the same with the long dresses - they are really wide. But just overlapping them works well. So does cutting off the part sos the figures which stop them sitting down onto the seat properly. If you look carefully at the white group of three men you can see where the ends of their feet have been cut off so that they don't interfere with the feet of the three who sit opposite them. I am sure that will be impossible to see when the roof is in the coach.

Human bodies, clothing, and animal bodies for that matter all assume a different shape when required to fill a given space. It's why you can't fit the required number of model animals in a cattle truck for instance. Our rules here require that animals should be packed sufficiently so as to minimise an individual falling down. Whilst humans are not the same, clothing and bodies do change even with the act of simply sitting on a seat.
My figures are no where near the standard of what's being 3D printed these days, but I have found that to make for instance the bulldozer driver
appear to sit in the seat rather than on top of it, various parts of his clothing and anatomy need to be ground away.

I am working on the painting. Since these figures will be difficult to see clearly in the coach they are an ideal subject for me to learn how to use these paints successfully:

This is the end result of my practicing. Getting the effect right isn't easy! its not like normal painting. First lesson learnt is that it needs white primer underneath it or it pools rather than flows. It seems to need to be "flooded" onto the surface rather than "painted". I didn't get the bottom row of faces right. I accidentally bought something called "medium" which I thought was undercoat - but is actually just pigment less paint. I have worked out one way of using it. The fop row of faces were painted with "skin" colour, and overpainted with a brown diluted 2:1 with the "medium". That meant that when the faces and arms were flooded with it it ended up looking lightly tanned. However it still tends to "pool" on the surface.

If you haven't already, try following Durleys "Cheaters Guide" . It works for me if I follow it closely, not so much if I don't!

Hi Trevor, looks like you are getting some nice shadow and highlights, the clothing in particular is looking good giving some decent depth to the creases. For the skin tones, I suggest trying a more diluted contrast paint mix, maybe 2:1 medium to paint. If that is then to light, you can always go back over it again once the first coat is dry. You do need to saturate the area with paint so it all is wet allowing the paint to flow into the creases and crevices. Work quickly, a face should be painted in maybe 20 to 30 seconds at most, then just leave the paint to settle by itself. If there is too much paint that has flooded the area and has started to run, you can use a clean and dry brush to wick away the excess paint.
