Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Lord Butler of Brockhampton appointed me to find a suitable driver for his personal transport. This vehicle is for his own use when attending special events, for instance when opening shows or making presentations etc. His Lordship is not an ostentatious person, but is certainly an individual bordering on eccentricity. His driver was to be inconspicuous!
My search took me to several agencies where on-line interviews were held to find just the right person. Strangely, F1 drivers were conspicuous by their absence so I finally chose Jack, from the Dave Clavey organisation. Jack was accustomed to operating IC locomotives from a seated position, although his legs were used to higher seating arrangements and needed surgery to correct that problem.
With Jack's consent (?) he underwent leg realignment operations and double foot amputations. He now sits perfectly in his cockpit and is comfortable with his permanent situation.
He is under strict instruction never to exceed 150 mph!

He looks suitably austere, but I'm sure his lordship would have insisted on a tie.

It has been over a month since I last added to this thread, not that I have been idle you understand, just busying myself with other projects.
I have been adding to my stock though and thought I might begin by joining in with the 'can you guess what it is?' theme.
So, here is my starter....

Seems to me you're hatching some sort of plan! (That's the yolk!)
Could be some kind of pressure vessel for a special load, or the rotund body of a popular holiday figure (whose name starts with S)?

That's blown it !!!
Too late now though, I thought to add another tanker to join my existing 'Dragon Oils' wagon...
So this is to be a 'Dragon Gas' container. How else would Dragons be able to breathe their fire?...

See I said you come up with some ideas us mortals don’t get to do

My second thought, would have been it cut vertically, and made into an Emett / Cinderella style carriage..

Meanwhile.... another eBay car purchase has been made, this one a 1968/9 (short production) Model T Ford made by Waco in Japan. Another novelty model with working radio. A bargain buy this one!
Currently (Nov.2024) an identical model is showing on eBay at £65.00....
Now, what could I do with this I wonder?

Snag the other one and make a push-me-pull-you railcar!

Just to refresh your memory Drew, this is my 'Double Bus'... The Gas Tanker is progressing nicely though, a coat of primer and further detailing makes all the difference...

The tanker looks as though it is missing something... how about a power source? It just so happens I have something available ready for conversion....
Looks familiar?...
Sort of Model 'T' ish...
This all came about following an idea to build another stock item. I was searching for a certain shape when the egg idea appealed to me. But, in order to buy the egg I had to buy a pack of six, which led me to the idea of a gas container; logical Captain!
The original plan was to construct something like this...

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
November 22nd was the last time I was able to post pictures on the Forum as my laptop and camera fell out and I have only just been able to get communications going again with the help of an expert on the subject. My computer skills are practically nil so I am still dependent on other issues being corrected in the near future... I hope!
However, I have been recording progress on various builds in the meantime so will take up the story from where we left off.
The egg shape was required for a particular construction and has proved to work remarkably well for the job. With a little sawing and filling it looks perfect for the task and solved the problem of creating the shape from scratch. So what am I making?
This is Emett's 'Wild Goose', one of the three passenger carrying locomotives which ran on the 15" gauge 'Far Tottering and Oyster Creek Railway' at the Festival of Britain, 1951....
The locos were IC powered from the tender.
The finished model, made from HIP, brass rod, sink strainer, modelling clay, coloured beads, clear plastic containers, rigging twine, downloaded basket weave print, etc. with vinyl lettering on acrylic paintwork (colour matched to Emett's design) and 1:12 scale resin figure (much modified) as driver and now looks like this ....
. . .
It runs on a modified Lima '0' gauge chassis and is battery powered with RC Trains equipment.

You’ve done it again Peter, that’s just such a fantastic build. How you think about and come up with these ideas of yours and then to make them happen with such detail is astounding. Love it Peter, you certainly are the master of pure genius builds

Re: Time to build a railway...but where?
Just brilliant!
I don't seem to have the ability to see beyond what is in front of me.. Hence if I have a mess of colours and bits of stuff, I don't appear to see past that to the model..
At least, not until a coat of primer brings it all together..
Do let me know about the second receiver.
