With all the discussion about little German diesels lately, there might be a glimpse of something useful or inspiring in this clip of a Feldbahn (field railway) museum:
Some great steam and electrics in there too. They mention that most of their stock is gauged to 600mm, just shy of two feet. My favorite part is the presenter's surprise at the so-called "deadman" switch - as the guide explains, when one is dead, one can no longer drive the train.

I did. I actually typed Symes but the predictive text on my tablet must have 'corrected' it. Blooming annoying sometimes but I don't want to turn it off because it corrects more typos than correcting things which it doesn't recognise.

PS Had to go back and override Symes / Sykes again - but it's now seems to have learnt Symes and so ignores it.

His full name was actually "Robert Alexander, Baron Schutzmann von Schutzmansdorff"
Bob Symes was a lovely fellow. We had him to judge our club modelling competition many years ago. Because I won 2 or 3 sections, after he presented me with the cups, he whispered in a voice that everyone could hear, "Are you a pot hunter?" We subsequently had a club outing to his house and garden railway, and had a very convivial afternoon.

sometimes difficult to understand.
But that's no surprise, since I live south of the Weiswurscht equator.

Thanks for the context Gerald! I have watched Einfach Genial before but not the other program with Horst Lichter. I didn't notice his dialect but I'm definitely not the best at picking up on that kind of thing... Will definitely be seeking out more of his videos to watch soon.
This came up on my recommends today, and while most of it is about the Gmeinder company's history as a whole, there's a nice Feldbahn demonstration at 5:20. There's also a very striking streamlined diesel at about 15:00 which is described as 381mm gauge, or 15 inches.
