ACME Engineering Sound systems

Post by Mr ACME » Thu Oct 01, 2015 6:11 am

We have extended our range of sound systems. These use recordings of the real thing and not electronically generated white noise.

The range now includes:
- Multi cylinder diesel, suit anything from a Little John to a Baguley and beyond.

- Twin cylinder Lister twin diesel.

- Multi cylinder petrol. Actually uses the Tin Turtle sound from Apedale.

- Slow steam chuff.

- Faster steam chuff.

- Welder.

These are our stock items. We can supply many, many other line side type sounds. All systems are only £36 + £3 P&P and include sound unit, pre-wired speaker, pre-wired switch, battery and holder, wire, full instructions and support.

See WWW.ACMESTEAM.CO.UK

Thanks

Mike

Yes, same here. Anyone know whether Mike is still trading? I fancied trying one of his cards in the little IPE diesel I built before Christmas.

AFAIK, Mike is still trading.
I bought a pressure gauge from him in December (2018!).
He was having problems with the website then, and it appears he still is.

I've sent a direct eMail, so we'll wait for a response.

Even if he gave permission you shouldn't copy and paste plain text email addresses on the Internet.

Bots are always crawling sites for email addresses that will get used for SPAM campaigns, etc.

I have a response from Mike:-

Hello Rob.
Yes I’ve had problems with my ISP and the website has been lost. Need to recreate it.

My business email is sales
(insert the curly chr)
acmesteam.co.uk

I don’t mind you handing this out.

Best

Useful to know, thanks.

Regarding spam bots, when I was running RC Trains, I posted the email address on the website as an image, rather than in text. It worked for nearly a year and then I started to get a few spam emails on that address. I still have access to that account and the number of spam emails to it has rocketed (84 have slipped past the spam filter so far this week) even though that email address image is no longer on the web. I can only assume that the email address is now somewhere on the dark web. Clearly I do not reply to the emails or even open them. It just makes you wonder what on earth the spammers think they are likely to achieve other than irritating the recipients.

Just noticed...

Right at the beginning of this thread, in Mike's original post, he does give his eMail on the signature panel.

Mike Ousby passed away on February 1st of a massive heart attack.

Condolences to the Family and friends.

Another loss to the modelling fraternity.

That is sad news. He was a stalwart of the garden railway community.
If anyone knows his family, then please pass on our thoughts are with them
