Small Balcony Garden Railway

Really like the way you have managed to pack a lot of detail and atmosphere into such a small space.

The little Porter is a nice model. It seems to have a hig( level of detail, like full working Stevensons' valve-gear and braking details. The location of the pressure gauge is a little weird, though.

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised by the good detail of the Porter (at a reasonable price). Already from the factory it was equipped with the Goodall valve, hidden in the filler neck of the water tank. The installation of the r/c system in such a small locomotive was a real challenge.
On the Falk locomotive the pressure gauge is installed exactly the same (it seems corporate identity of Bowande

Lots of wonderful detail, and I particulary like your crane. Is that from a kit, or a scratch built item?

The crane is a scratch built. The flat car is AMS (Accucraft), the crane - USA trains, the footboards and the handles - Ozark Miniatures.

I like Ozark miniatures! I bought a little "Porter" for my Dad a few years ago- it was the "WUHU" brand one, which apparently was built by a former employee of Accucraft, and according to them used rather too many identical design features... oh well, it runs nicely and has a lot of details. Anyway I gave it to my Dad for Christmas, and he ordered some logging cars and a van ("caboose":) ) from Ozark Miniatures for it.

When he was finished building them, I was astonished at the level of detail on the wagons... the bogies were fully sprung (as is the little Porter!) and they came with lots of bits of chain, handles, scale bolts and rivets, ratchets, coupler pockets, et cetera.

I have yet to see a British 16mm kit provider that provides such a complete and detailed kit, especially at the price. I was very surprised how nice the Ozark kits are. You'd have to do a lot of extra work if you wanted a Brandbright or IP or Swift Sixteen kit to look as good. Not to throw shade on those guys of course, they are all pretty good, but you have to buy extras...the Ozark kits come with all the extras.

Egor, I have only just found your thread about your ‘Small balcony garden railway”. It’s very impressive what you have achieved in such a small space.

I love the little cameos such as the card players. I shall be watching progress from now on.

Yes, Ozark does great things! Unfortunately, I still don't have any complete kit, only some details. It is unfortunate that the Ozark website ceased to support international shipping.

I didn't know they ceased international shipping! I guess I won't be getting any more kits from them either, if that's the case.

The message with news that they no longer carry out international shipping was in my newsletter about a year ago. Since then, I can't complete the order on their site, an error appears on the display. Try, maybe for Canada it will work ...

Actually, I apologize for being political for a moment, but in Canada we are avoiding buying anything from that country at the present time. Unfortunately.

Hello everyone,

For quite some time I thought about adding a crane to my railway for loading logs into cars. At the same time, I wanted the crane to be functional and relevant to the theme of my railway. I looked for a long time towards the loading crane from Pola, but how to use it on the "American" railway?
The solution came by accident while watching the old issues of the Garden Rail magazine. In the 11-2007 issue, in an article by Bert Horner, there were photos of the installation of such a crane on a rock-filled cribbing base. I decided to try to make something similar for my railway.
