Sad News - David Hick
I was very shocked to hear of the death of David Hick in Somerset. He was the victim of a hit and run driver whilst walking his dogs. For those of you who have not heard of him, David was a master craftsman in the locomotive making world, not only that, but he was a true gent too. BBC News reports say that he was 84.
I don't know him at all, but this is very sad news, particularly in such dreadful circumstances.

Sad news indeed, especially in those circumstances. I was lucky to have worked on one of David's locos a couple of years ago, unfortunately the owner wanted it back.
Simon Whenmouth has a gallery of David's locos here: http://www.anythingnarrowgauge.co.uk/Mu ... s.php?ID=7

Very sad news. I knew he was ex Army engineering but never knew about the music hall.
He was a Gent!
His locos were a wonderful work of art as well as engineering, and often took a long time to build!(sometimes to the frustration to the person purchasing them). He was always happy to chat and remembered me every year...my odd ball locos to his perfect machines!
He was due at Exeter this weekend.
I have found the BBC article, and it is David depicted.
Very sad, I hope the driver comes forward or is found soon.

Further to the past postings, and I am sure some small comfort for his family, is the news that 2 have been charged with causing Davids death. (news item below)

I also thought the obituary in Garden Rail was very nice
Will be thinking of his family this Christmas.

Follow up to the trial of the individuals involved in David's death.
