Railway Programes on BBC4

Post by laalratty » Thu Oct 23, 2008 10:06 pm

Im suprised nobody has mentioned the railway programes on BBC4 recently, these have featured many takes on the Beeching axe, railway walks, some reapeats of progrmes on long ago including the one edition of Great Railway Journeys that was set in Britain, as well as a programe about Tornado (don't start William and Andy  ). Been very intersting to watch, and nice to see some railway programes on, although it would be nice to see some narrow guage
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

Sorry...no time to post...too busy watching...railway programmes on BBC 4...

That prog on Tornado was wonderful, the quality of the engineering looks absolutely superb, and was great to see such an upbeat programme too. After seeing an article on it on BBC news where the whole slant was that we didn't have any skills and couldn't do it anymore.

Its been really great to have all these railway related programmes every Thursday evening. Looking forward to watching 'Metroland' by John Betjemen as we get to see Len Rawle's home installed Wurlitzer organ (my other vice)! :D

I havent seen much of them but I did see that one on Tornando. It really does look a fantastic piece of kit. So when are they building an LMS garret?

Not sure if this has been posted before, but 'Swiss Railway Journeys' on one of the Sky travel channels is an easy watch. Have been showing all day on a Sunday and Tuesday. Mostly diesel but there is some occasional steam footage.

Get a cuppa, a digestive biscuit, sit back, relax and enjoy the Swiss countryside rolling by. Sorted.
