A journey to Leeds and Wales

Post by KjellAn » Mon Aug 24, 2015 9:09 am

What to visit and explore?

Me and my wife are are going on holiday to England and Wales from 23.Sept to 04.Oct.
We travel by plane from Norway and arrives at Manchester Airport. Then by train to Leeds.

We will hope to visit the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and the Elsecar Garden Railway Show the first days of our journey.

Then we travel by train to Chester, and from there a car in northern parts of Wales. And we will try visit some nice places and villages there. And visit some of the narrow gauge railways.

But, are there any garden railways we could visit during the week from 28.Sept. to 03.Oct.? We are traveling by car, but I think it would be difficult to bring along som of my rolling stock from my garden railway. But it would be nice to visit some you and see some of your's garden railways when we are on this tour.

Don't dash away from Chester - it's a beautiful city with unique "double decker" shops in the middle of town - WELL worth a day's visit!

We'll have 2 days in Manchester, 2 days in Leeds and 2 days in Chester.
Actually the travel in Wales beginns on thuesday the 29.Sept. :D

The days in Leeds goes for visiting the Keighley & Worth railway and the Elsecar Garden Railway show. Sorry to those who would recommend York, but that will be an other time ...

About any visits to garden railways, I did not find any events of that in the 16mm's Bulletin of August, in this area, and in the days of our holiday.

We are now in Leeds, and are going to Elsecar on Sunday.
Would it be possible to put our luggage somewhere within the Elsecar Heritage Center during our stay at the Show?
