crack in pipe

Post by Joe » Fri Mar 06, 2015 4:19 pm

Hi all, while i was trying to dettach the faulty pressure gauge from my merlin i noticed water droplets unfortunately started to escape from just below the nut so obviously a leak had developed. I was wandering how to fix this, Can i solder it back on?

you can see the crack where the water droplet is
i can only imagine the pipe must have been very brittle at that point as i did not apply a lot of pressure

You could try soldering, but looking at the picture, I think I would want to change the pipe. Try Acme Engineering for a replacement.

Turns out after speaking to the guy from rhos helyg loco works that it isnt actually the pipe that is damaged, just the connection so shouldn't be a major job at all, plus i can get it re painted :)
