First annoyance with 3D printing.

Post by kennyh » Tue Jan 26, 2021 6:37 pm

Printer expected today, 3 delivery vehicles pulled up outside our house with intent, I gets all excited waiting in the hall for the door to knock....and all 3 deliveries went elsewhere and I'm printlerless still.......Mrs is howling laughing

Anyhow it has to land tomorrow.

So back to 3D prining and in particular CAD, thought I'd start here as it's now in the correct part of the forum.

Had a week on Tinkercad now and as I said I rate it. Nowhere need up to speed but grasping basics and as stated it's far easier to just get on and build than 360 as you are not spending half your time wondering where some hidden feature is.

This is my first crappy attempt at a loco, I'll start the bottom half shortly.

I have saved all components as single items but just stitched this together as the nearly completed shell.

Very, very basic but it does seriously get you thinking and also helps in discovering new tricks every half hour.

Hoping to learn a heck of a lot more here...then maybe a good blast on 360.

Cheers guys
Kenny

That's good for a first effort. Presumably you can break it down into sections for printing.

Yes Rik, completely saved in singular component form. And thank you.

That's really good, you seem to have got to grips with that really quickly, next week, the full Ffestiniog stock and loco's I assume? :salute: :D

Hopefully the printer will be there tomorrow

I might just have a go at doing that little Hudson too, it looks great.

Hiya Steve and thanks very much for that. Basic i know but a full blown Saddle tank is beyond me at present....so the Ffestiniog plans are on hold🤣. Would love to see you do a Hudson too...that would be something i and others would learn from. I'm betting it'd be stunning
If that printer doesn't show up tomorrow I'll sulk like I've never sulked before and shall go to bed without any supper in protest🤣🍷

Hiya Steve, printed nowt yet

I got a Creality CR-20 Pro. Printer is fully assembled now, just trying to get the bed levelled.

Think I have after following the simple step by step guide that came with it but now after watching over complicated youtube clips I'm not so sure.

I guess with it being my first printer and only just arriving I'm sort of having a bit of brain freeze at present.
