Mamod tram contraption. 23/3/11

A very popular starting point for Live Steam. With their low cost comes a number of problems which can be discussed here

Mamod tram contraption

Just jib bearish really. Cant turn spellchecker off. Basically I wanted to know what gearing to use on a single cylinder minor 1 or similar using Mamod loco wheels. To go very slowly. I ll probably use gears rather than chain as it might be more reliable. Ta.

About 6 to 1 seems to be the norm but if you are after very slow then 8 to 1 should do it.
