A very popular starting point for Live Steam. With their low cost comes a number of problems which can be discussed here

Post by Bandit » Tue Nov 19, 2013 12:24 pm

Hello there!
I tried to find a few online shops who sell MSS steam locos.
I only found two but I don't like them...
Could you help me? Thanks by advance.

My search returns absolutely no result.
So the MSS loco will never be on my wish list.

If they aren't advertised on their website try emailing them. :) If they want your business they'll email back I'm sure.

Others refused to sell G scale loco...
No problem at all. I can also buy Mamod, RWM or Roundhouse steam locos.

Ah, you did not say Gauge 1/45mm which does trim down the retailers list somewhat.

I assume you have already dismissed Dream Steam & Chasteam, as they both stock 45mm MSS's.

Not everyone replies to e-mails the same day. When I contacted MSS to get a missing page from the kit instructions (I had 2 copies of the same page in an unbuilt kit I won on eBay) I sent the e-mail request on a Saturday and they replied attaching the missing page on the following Wednesday.

There are plenty of 32mm Mamod/MSS's on eBay at present which can be converted to 45mm with the MSS conversion kit at £19:99, and there is even one 45mm modified Mamod on eBay as well. Keep your eye out for an unbuilt Mamod SL1K kit as they came with both wheelsets.

Thanks Chris. :D
But I'm now looking for a RWM Janet or a Roundhouse Millie.
MSS is not and will never be on my list.

There is a ip Jane 45mm ( same loco as a Janet with some minor differences) for sale at anything narrow gauge for £295.
