my latest purchase

A very popular starting point for Live Steam. With their low cost comes a number of problems which can be discussed here

my latest purchase

Post by andysleigh » Sun Jan 13, 2008 11:42 pm

on sunday (13th) i purchased a mamod rs1 set for £50

it includes-
set-
mamod sl1 loco
mamod log wagon with logs
mamod maroon coach
mamod curved track
mamod straight track
oil
tablets
extras-
2 pairs of mamod points
1 pack of curved mamod track
1 pack of straight mamod track

missing-
saftey valve (but i we have plenty spare)
buffer beams from loco.

it all seems to be in good condition, except for some parts on the loco.
boiler paint blistered
paint on edge of 1 tank is chipped
but those dont matter.

it was bought from a member of g.m.e.s who turned up to the small model steam engine group meeting .
he said it was bought for the kids, used a few times, and left in the attic for years.
only half the tablets have been used.

pics to come later

That would be the bargain of the century if it was £50 for the entire list of items. Very Well Done.

Interestingly the RS1 & RS1A sets were never supplied with the RW5 Passenger Coach so it looks like that has replaced a RW1 Open wagon from this set originally.

I've yet to complete my guide to the Mamod track yet. It is OK but needs some work done on it (filing, etc.) to get the best out of it and reduce the tendency for derailments. Hopefully get this guide produced soon.

No it was not from ebay but it should have been. Seller could have made £50 several times over.

Been watching a couple of Mamod locos on ebay recently, and despite the downturn in our sales market on the high street, ebay buyers are paying high prices. So no more bargains for Mamod locos at present.

I thought it would be off ebay with it being that cheap at this time of year no one has any money.
