Don't feel too bad, when I make cock ups they are normally on a Sunday so then I have to wait until next weekend before I can do anything about it so it just annoys me all week at work!

Good idea to recycle, I tend to find a life for failed attempts eventually or they just end up as lineside junk.

Don’t worry too much Derek, just see how it looks when you have the ends on and take it from there mate.

All part of learning. Ive had more than my share! I'm currently having a go at building my own wagons too and am on my third attempt! So far looking ok, but still a long way to go and plenty of time for the cock up factor to apply.

On the wagon mate, can you not put a small coffee stirrer strip to the join in the middle of the wagon, at least then it would hide the gaps there. Just a thought mate.

Gap is meant to be there as the wagons were designed to have lift out panels. Still need to add the handrails I also have some brass channel to make strips to lock the panels together.
It can serve as a sided wagon, a bulkhead or a flattie.....when I finish it!

A chance find of 2 2ba brass countersunk screws has allowed me to discover that my 24 squids worth of lgb bell mouth couplers are too low. Don't know whether to add bigger wheels , convert to hook and loop or run as is with the pin through the coupler above the bell .

Still need handrails to the panels and find a code system for the panels as they are all minutely different.

Just read my post and looked again....got to be hook and loop....anybody want to buy some lgb couplers!

Couplings can be a real problem. I have added 'hook and loop' couplings to all my stock. Adding them to ready to run stuff and getting the correct height is a right pain sometimes. I've just sorted out a Newqida coach, and a bogie wagon. The only consolation is the full sized locos and rolling stock have couplings which don't always line up. Add in vacuum hoses with the couplings at different angles and heating hoses and in any scale or gauge there are issues.

That rusty corrugated roof looks brilliant. Must give that technique a try.
Don't mention couplings....... they might become my nemesis.......

Hi Tom I recall Brian Dominic using something from Brandbright on his Flagg Florspar layout. Don't know if they still do it. I think 4D models do some but the show as ridge sizes not scales.

Three for the price of onè, that will save building two more...need to solder up some brass corners to go over the joints and we're virtually there although need to weather those diagonals.

Another barn door build using the too short ends from the bogie build. I'm sure it will come useful for something at some point. All the bits in stock so I'll take it as a freebie .

I'm enjoying these wagons very much, they look just right...

Looking forward to seeing them in action on the line...
